Description

The Morgan is a quilted corner sofa bed — a full corner suite that converts to a bed, which is a combination that usually means compromising on one or the other. At 237 x 156cm it is a proper corner sofa for a family room, and the quilted upholstery is what stops a piece this large reading as a slab: the stitching breaks the surface into panels so the eye sees detail rather than one unbroken expanse of fabric.

Corner sofas and the handing question

Before you order any corner sofa, stand in the room and decide which way the long side should run. A corner sofa is the single hardest piece of furniture to change your mind about, because it only fits one way round. If you are unsure whether this configuration suits your room, send us a rough sketch with the door and window positions marked and we will tell you honestly whether it works — including if the answer is that it does not.

As a bed

The Morgan converts to a sleeping surface, which makes it a reasonable answer to the problem of a family room that also has to take guests two or three times a year. We would treat it as an occasional bed rather than a nightly one — that is true of almost every corner sofa bed, because the mechanism has to work around the corner geometry.

Kyoto do not publish the sleeping dimensions for the Morgan. If someone specific is going to sleep on it, ask us before you order and we will get the open size confirmed by the manufacturer in writing rather than have you find out on the night.

Space you will need

237cm along the long side, 156cm along the short side, 91cm high. Measure the room, but measure the route in as well — a corner sofa is delivered in sections but they are still large sections, and doorways, stair turns and landing space are what stop these deliveries, not the room itself.

This is a backorder. Kyoto expect their next delivery of the Morgan on 27 October 2026. You can order now to reserve one from that delivery, and we will dispatch as soon as it reaches us. If the date moves we will tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund at any point before it ships.

Delivered free to mainland England and Wales. We do not currently deliver to the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland or the offshore islands.

This is a large item. Please measure your doorways, hallway and any turn on the stairs before ordering, and have someone available to help on the day.

Questions we are asked most

Can I have the corner on the other side?

Not on this model — it is made in one configuration. Check the photographs against your room before ordering, and if you are unsure, send us a sketch and we will tell you whether it works.

How big is it as a bed?

Kyoto have not published the open dimensions and we will not guess at them. Ask us and we will get the figure confirmed in writing before you order.

Is it comfortable to sleep on every night?

We would not recommend it for nightly use. Corner sofa beds are built around the corner first and the bed second. If someone is sleeping on it regularly, one of our dedicated sofa beds with a pocket sprung mattress is the better buy.

Why quilted?

Partly looks, partly practicality. The stitching breaks up a very large surface so the sofa reads as panels rather than one mass, and quilting holds the filling in place, which is what stops the seat surface going baggy in the spots that get sat on most.
