Description
The Miller is a three-seat-width sofa that hides a proper double guest bed underneath it. Close it up and you have a soft, deep-cushioned living room sofa with a buttoned back and gently rounded arms. Pull the bed out and the frame unfolds on its own metal base with its own mattress, giving a sleeping area of 137 x 190cm, the same as a standard UK double. Nobody sleeps on the seat cushions, and nobody has to stack them in the hallway.
It is a new design from Kyoto for the 2026 season and comes in three Rhea chenille colourways: Grey, a soft mid-grey that suits most rooms; Navy, a deep blue that looks rich against pale walls and oak floors; and Taupe, a warm stone neutral that sits well with cream, wood and brass.
Why a roll-out sofa bed
Most sofa beds ask you to choose between a good sofa and a good bed. A click-clack folds the seat flat, so you sleep on the upholstery. A fold-out bed sits underneath, so the sofa itself can stay deep and cushioned. The Miller is the second type. The sitting side is built like an ordinary sofa: plump seat cushions, two tufted back cushions and a pair of scatter cushions in the same fabric. The sleeping side is a separate bed frame that rolls forward and unfolds when you need it.
That matters if the room is a lounge first and a guest room only now and then. You get a sofa you will want to sit on every evening, and a bed that is ready in a minute or two when family come to stay.
Chenille that lasts
Rhea chenille has a short, dense pile with a soft, slightly textured hand. It is warmer to the touch than linen and less shiny than velvet, and it hides everyday creasing better than flat-weave fabrics. The back is fully upholstered, so the Miller looks finished from every side and can float in the middle of a room or sit behind a dining table in an open-plan space.
Will it fit?
Closed, the Miller measures 188cm wide, 99cm deep and 99cm high. That is the footprint of a generous three-seater, so it will sit comfortably along a standard living room wall. When opened you will need roughly the length of a bed (around 2 metres) clear in front of the sofa, so check the coffee table can move out of the way. Measure doorways, hallway turns and stairs as well as the room itself: the route in is usually what decides whether large furniture fits.

Questions we are asked most
Is the Miller comfortable enough to sleep on?
Yes, for guests. You sleep on the bed’s own mattress on a metal frame, not on the sofa cushions, and the 137 x 190cm area is a standard UK double. Like most sofa beds it is designed for regular guest use rather than as an every-night bed.
How much room do I need to open it?
Allow about two metres clear in front of the sofa so the bed can roll out fully. The sofa itself is 188cm wide and 99cm deep.
Which colour is most practical?
Grey and Taupe are the easiest to live with and hide everyday marks well. Navy is the boldest choice and is forgiving with pets and children because it does not show darker marks.
Can I keep the bedding inside when it is closed?
A thin duvet and pillows can usually stay on the bed when it is folded away, but we recommend storing heavier bedding separately so the mechanism closes easily and the mattress keeps its shape.
When will it arrive?
Kyoto expect stock on 4 December 2026. Pre-orders are dispatched in the order they are received, so ordering now secures one from the first batch.
