Description
A low base and a playful roof outline make this white wooden house bed a gentle first step from a cot or toddler bed into a full-size single. The mattress sits close to the floor, so climbing in is easy for small legs and a tumble out of bed is a short one. Above, the open house frame gives your child a cosy corner that feels like their own, without closing in the room.
It is a favourite with parents who like the low, Montessori-style approach to children’s sleep, and with children who simply love the idea of sleeping in their own little house. Hang fairy lights along the roof beam or drape a light fabric over the top for a den; keep it plain and the clean white lines suit a modern bedroom.
Why parents choose a low house bed
- Low to the floor, so children can get in and out on their own.
- Full UK single size, so it lasts well beyond the toddler years.
- Open roof frame ready for lights, bunting or a canopy.
- Slatted base that keeps the mattress ventilated.
Mattress
The bed takes a standard UK single mattress, 90 x 190 cm, sold separately. Because the base sits low, a breathable mattress is a good choice; air the room and turn or rotate the mattress regularly. Size-matched children’s single mattresses are suggested below this listing.
Planning the room
The frame is 196 cm long, 97 cm wide and 141 cm high to the top of the roof. That height is comfortable under a standard ceiling and below most sloping ceilings, so it suits loft rooms and box rooms as well as larger bedrooms. A low bed has no side rails, so for very young children some parents add a soft rug alongside.

Assembly and care
The bed arrives flat packed with the fittings and step-by-step instructions. Two adults make assembly easier, and it is best to build it in the room where it will stay. Re-tighten the bolts after the first few weeks of use and then every few months, because solid wood settles slightly as it acclimatises to a centrally heated home. Wipe the painted surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid bleach, solvent cleaners and abrasive pads, which can dull or chip the paint. Keep the frame a little way from radiators so the timber is not exposed to direct heat.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We are unable to deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. The bed arrives flat packed, and we will contact you to confirm your delivery window before it leaves the warehouse. If it is planned as a Christmas present, ordering early leaves time to build it before the big day.
