Description
The Kudl white storage mid sleeper is a low, friendly raised bed that hides a cupboard and a run of open shelving inside an ordinary single-bed footprint. At 93 cm tall it lifts the mattress just far enough to make room for storage underneath, so your child gets the fun of a cabin-style bed without a tall ladder, and you get a tidier bedroom without adding another piece of furniture.
Bright white keeps a small room feeling light and open. It works with almost any colour scheme, from bold primary bedding to soft pastels, and it is easy to restyle as tastes change. Swap the duvet, add a few coloured storage boxes to the shelves and the same bed moves from a six-year-old’s room to a pre-teen’s without looking out of place.
Storage built in
- Two-door cupboard in the middle of the frame, deep enough for bulky toys, a spare duvet, school bags or out-of-season clothes.
- Long open shelf at the top of the storage run, roughly 78.7 cm wide and 22.3 cm high, for books, night-lights and display pieces.
- Two lower cube compartments, each roughly 39.4 cm wide and 22.2 cm high, sized for fabric storage boxes or rows of picture books.
- Built-in step at the foot end, so climbing in and out is part of the frame rather than a separate ladder.
- Raised sides running around the mattress for a snug, secure feel at night.
Who it suits
This is a good first raised bed. It is lower than most mid sleepers, which means you can still sit on the edge for a bedtime story, reach across to tuck the duvet in and change the sheets without climbing. It suits box rooms, rooms with a sloping ceiling and shared bedrooms where a taller bed would block light from the window. It is sized for children aged six and over and is roomy enough to stay useful into the early teens.
Mattress
The bed takes a standard UK single mattress, 90 x 190 cm, which is sold separately. Pick a children’s mattress of moderate depth so the raised sides stay comfortably above the sleeping surface. We have suggested matching single mattresses below this listing, from simple foam-free sprung options to deeper pocket sprung ones.

Safety at height
Raised beds are intended for children aged six and over. Choose a mattress that leaves the sides standing well above the sleeping surface, re-check the fittings every few months, and keep the step clear of toys at bedtime. Younger brothers and sisters should not play on the upper level.
Assembly and care
The bed arrives flat packed with labelled panels, fittings and step-by-step instructions. Two adults make the build easier, and it is best assembled in the bedroom where it will stay. Tighten the fittings again after the first few weeks of use. Clean the white surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid bleach, solvents and scouring pads, which can dull the finish. Keep the frame a little way from radiators.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We are unable to deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. The bed is delivered flat packed, and we will be in touch to confirm your delivery window before it leaves the warehouse. If it is a Christmas present, ordering early gives you time to build it before the big day.
Frequently asked questions
Is a mattress included?
No. The bed takes a standard UK single mattress measuring 90 x 190 cm, sold separately.
How tall is it?
The frame stands 93 cm high, noticeably lower than a typical mid sleeper, so it is easy to make the bed and sit with your child at bedtime.
Does it need a ladder?
No. A step is built into the foot end of the frame, so there is no separate ladder to fit.
Will it fit a small bedroom?
Yes. It needs about 195 x 97.3 cm of floor space, close to an ordinary single bed, while adding a cupboard and shelving underneath.
Is it also available in oak?
Yes. The same design is available in an oak-effect finish as the Kudl Storage Mid Sleeper with Cupboard and Shelves, Oak.
