Description
When a bedroom is small, the floor under the bed is the most valuable storage space you have. The Kudl Multi Drawer Cabin Bed in white turns that space into a full chest of drawers and a cupboard, built straight into the base of a standard UK single bed. Four drawers handle folded clothes, pyjamas and spare bedding, while the central cupboard swallows the bulky, awkward things: board games, soft toys, school bags and the odds and ends that never seem to fit anywhere else.
The clean white finish keeps a busy children’s room looking calm and suits any colour scheme, from pastel nurseries that are growing up to bold teenage bedrooms. Because the bed is a low 51 cm high, children can climb in and make the bed themselves, and there is no ladder or guard rail to outgrow. It works as a first big bed from around school age and stays useful well into the teenage years.
Why parents choose a multi drawer cabin bed
- Storage without extra furniture: the drawers and cupboard can replace a separate chest, freeing floor space for play or a desk.
- Generous drawers: each of the four drawers measures roughly 62.5 cm wide, 48 cm deep and 19 cm high, enough for a good stack of clothes.
- Central cupboard: a two-door compartment in the middle of the base for larger items that drawers cannot take.
- Low and safe: at 51 cm high it is easy to get in and out of, and there is nothing to fall from.
- Standard mattress size: takes any UK single 3ft mattress, 90 x 190 cm, so replacements are easy to find.
- Bookcase headboard available: the same bed is also sold with a bookcase headboard if you want display shelves at the head end.
Size and fit
The bed measures 196 cm long, 96 cm wide and 51 cm high. Allow room in front of the bed for the drawers to open fully: around 50 cm of clear floor on the drawer side is a sensible minimum. The back of the bed is designed to sit against a wall, which makes it a good fit along one side of a box room. Measure doorways and the turn at the top of the stairs before ordering; the bed arrives flat packed, so access is rarely a problem.
Choosing a mattress
The mattress is not included. Because the drawers sit directly beneath the sleeping area, a mattress of a sensible depth (around 15 to 22 cm) keeps the overall height comfortable for a child. We show a choice of children’s single mattresses on this page, from foam-free sprung options to deeper pocket sprung mattresses, all sized 90 x 190 cm to fit this bed.
Assembly and care
The bed comes flat packed with fittings and instructions for home assembly. It is a bigger build than a plain bed frame because of the drawers and cupboard, so allow an afternoon and ideally two adults. Re-tighten the fittings after the first few weeks. Wipe the white surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them; avoid bleach, solvents and abrasive pads.
