Description
Denver Bed: Upholstered Bed Frame with Winged Headboard
The Denver is an upholstered bed frame by Kyoto. Its tall winged headboard curves forward at the sides, and the frame stands on low walnut-coloured legs. It comes in Double, King and Super King, in three fabrics: Asteria Stone textured weave, Olive herringbone chenille and Mocha herringbone chenille. It has a slatted base, so it’s a straightforward bed frame without storage. If you want the same look with lift-up storage, choose the Denver Multi-Lift Ottoman Bed.
What the winged headboard does
The headboard is 126cm tall, measured from the floor. Its sides curve forward around the pillows, which makes the bed feel enclosed and gives you something comfortable to lean against when you sit up to read. Because the whole headboard is padded and upholstered, there’s no hard edge to knock your head on.
The three fabrics
- Asteria Stone Textured Weave: a pale, warm neutral with a visible texture. It’s the safest choice for a light, calm bedroom.
- Olive Herringbone Chenille: a soft chenille in a muted green with a small herringbone pattern. It looks good against white bedding and oak furniture.
- Mocha Herringbone Chenille: the same chenille in a warm mid brown. It’s the cosiest of the three, and it shows marks least.
The walnut-coloured legs suit all three, and they tie the bed to the wooden bedside tables and drawers most bedrooms already have.

Choosing the mattress
The Denver takes standard UK mattress sizes. The space inside the frame is a few centimetres bigger than the mattress, so the bedding tucks in easily. It’s sold as a frame only.
- For a hand-tufted sprung mattress, look at the Astrid 1000 Hand Tufted Mattress.
- For a memory foam hybrid, look at the Wellbeing Balance Memory 2000.
- For a deep pillowtop, look at the Morgan 1000 Tencel Pillowtop.
Each one comes in the Double, King and Super King sizes this bed needs.
Will it fit your room?
Allow the full overall length, not just the mattress length. The King and Super King are 212cm long because the headboard and the padded frame add about 10cm to the mattress. Leave at least 60cm along each side you walk around.
The Denver comes flat-packed in two boxes, so getting it upstairs is rarely a problem, even in narrow houses.
Other upholstered beds to compare
- Denver Multi-Lift Ottoman Bed: the same headboard and fabrics, with storage that lifts from the side or the end.
- Nora Upholstered Bed Frame: a softer, rounded look.
- Avery Bed Frame: an upholstered option at a lower price.
- Skandi Mid Century Bed: a wooden-frame Scandi alternative.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We don’t deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. Your bed arrives in two boxes for home assembly. The mattress is sold separately.
Denver Bed: questions people ask
What size mattress do I need?
A standard UK size: Double 135 x 190cm, King 150 x 200cm or Super King 180 x 200cm. Don’t buy a European size for this bed.
Does the Denver Bed have storage?
No, this is the slatted bed frame. For storage, choose the Denver Multi-Lift Ottoman Bed, which has the same headboard and fabrics.
How tall is the headboard?
126cm from the floor. That’s tall enough to lean against comfortably when you sit up in bed.
Are the legs real walnut?
Kyoto describes them as walnut-coloured. They’re finished in a walnut tone rather than made from solid walnut.
Which fabric is easiest to live with?
Mocha herringbone chenille shows the least. Asteria Stone is the lightest and suits pale rooms. Olive sits in between and is the most distinctive of the three.
