Avery Bed Frame

Description

In short: the Avery is a velvet bed frame with a winged, vertically stitched headboard on slim metal legs, in double (4ft 6), king (5ft) and super king (6ft) sizes. It takes a standard UK mattress, sits on a slatted base, and comes in Athena Grey velvet with silver legs, Athena Ink velvet with brass legs, or Neptune Grey faux wool. Prices start at £262.99 for the double in Athena Grey, with free delivery to mainland England and Wales.

A velvet bed frame with a winged headboard

The headboard is the point of the Avery. Its sides curve forward into shallow wings, which frame the pillows and make the bed look deliberate even in a plain room. Vertical channel stitching runs up the headboard, so the velvet catches the light in stripes rather than looking flat. At 126cm high it stands well above the pillows, so you can sit up against it to read without the top edge digging into your shoulders.

The frame sits on short metal legs rather than a solid plinth. That keeps the bed looking light, lets a robot vacuum get underneath, and leaves room for flat under-bed storage boxes.

Fabrics and legs

• Athena Grey velvet with silver legs: a mid grey that suits white, grey and blue bedrooms.
• Athena Ink velvet with brass legs: a deep blue-black, warmed up by the brass. The more dramatic option.
• Neptune Grey faux wool with silver legs: a matt, textured finish for anyone who prefers no sheen.

Stock varies by size and colour; the size and colour picker above shows what can be ordered today.

Specification

• Base: slatted, so no box spring or divan is needed.
• Upholstery: Athena velvet or Neptune faux wool.
• Legs: metal, silver or brass depending on the fabric.
• Mattress: not included. It takes a standard UK mattress in the sizes above.
• Supplier: Kyoto.

Which mattress goes with it?

Because the Avery uses UK sizes, any standard UK double mattress, king size mattress or super king mattress will fit. Do not use a European 160 x 200cm mattress on the king: it is 10cm too wide. Matching mattresses are suggested further down this page.

How it compares

If you want storage under the mattress, look at the Denver multi-lift ottoman bed. For more slatted frames, browse the slat beds range, or the king size bed frames if you have already settled on a size.

Delivery and payment

Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales, including Anglesey. We do not deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. You can spread the cost with Klarna at checkout.

Questions people ask

Is the Avery a velvet bed?

Yes, in two of its three finishes: Athena Grey velvet and Athena Ink velvet. The third, Neptune Grey, is a faux wool with a matt texture.

What size mattress do I need for the Avery king?

A standard UK king mattress, 150 x 200cm. The double takes 135 x 190cm and the super king 180 x 200cm.

How tall is the headboard?

126cm from the floor on every size. That is tall enough to sit up and read against comfortably.

Does the Avery come with a mattress?

No. The price is for the frame with its slatted base. Matching mattresses are shown under the product.

Will it fit my room?

Allow the outer size, not the mattress size: the king needs 167.5cm by 212cm of floor before you add bedside tables and walking space. A clear 60cm around the sides and foot of the bed is a comfortable minimum.
