Brodie Lamp Table

The Brodie range is solid mango wood with a pale, lightly limed finish and thick, softly squared edges. No pattern, no contrast metalwork — it relies on the weight of the timber and the openness of the grain. Mango is a fast-growing timber, which is why it is affordable in solid form and why the grain is open and varied. Expect colour to move across a single piece.

Where it works

Fifty centimetres in every direction makes this a cube, and a cube is the most forgiving shape a side table can be — it looks right from any angle, so it does not matter which way it faces in a corner.

At 50cm tall it sits level with most sofa arms, which is the height you want for a lamp: the shade ends up just below eye level when you are sitting, so you get light on the page rather than in your face. A square top also holds a lamp base and a mug without the pair fighting for space the way a round top makes them.

Delivered free to mainland England and Wales. We do not currently deliver to the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland or the offshore islands.

Questions people ask

Is it the same height as the Brodie coffee table? No — the coffee table is 40cm and this is 50cm. That difference is deliberate and reads correctly when both are in the same room.

Will pale wood mark easily? Rings and dark spills show more than on dark timber. Coasters and prompt blotting deal with it.

Is it heavy? Solid wood, but at this size one person can move it.

Does it need assembly? Minimal — the base fixes to the top.

Can I use it as a bedside table? Yes. At 50cm it sits at mattress height on most beds.
