Description
The Kudl Storage Mid Sleeper in oak effect turns the space under a single bed into a small study and a storage cupboard. Your child sleeps up on the raised deck, climbs down a sturdy three-tread ladder, and has a desk, a cupboard and a set of shelves ready underneath. For bedrooms where floor space is tight, it does the work of a bed, a desk, a bookcase and a cupboard in one footprint.
The warm oak-effect finish is a calmer alternative to bright white. It suits neutral, sage, navy or pastel walls, and it does not look babyish, so the bed carries on working as a seven-year-old becomes a teenager who needs somewhere to do homework.
What sits underneath
- Pull-out desk on castors. Roll it out when it is homework or drawing time and push it back under the bed afterwards to free up the floor.
- Three-shelf bookcase built into the end of the desk, so books, pens and a lamp stay within reach.
- Two-door cupboard with an open shelf above it for games, shoes, spare bedding or anything you would rather keep out of sight.
- Ladder at the foot end with three deep treads and cut-out handholds in the side panel.
Why a mid sleeper rather than a high sleeper
At 120 cm overall, a mid sleeper keeps your child lower than a full high sleeper, which makes bedtime stories, changing the bedding and checking on them at night much easier. It also fits under sloping ceilings and in box rooms where a high sleeper would feel cramped, while still freeing up the floor beneath.
Mattress
The bed takes a standard UK single mattress, 90 x 190 cm, sold separately. Choose a children’s mattress of moderate depth so the guard rail stays comfortably above the sleeping surface. You will find matching single mattresses suggested below this listing.

Safety at height
Raised beds are designed for children aged six and over, in line with the guidance that accompanies EN 747 for upper sleeping surfaces. Use a mattress that leaves the guard rail standing well above the sleeping surface, check the fixings every few months, and keep the ladder clear of toys at night. Younger siblings should not play on the upper level.
Assembly and care
Every Kudl bed arrives flat packed with labelled parts, fittings and step-by-step instructions. Two adults make assembly easier, and it is best to build the bed in the room where it will stay, because the finished frame is large. Re-tighten the fittings after the first few weeks and then every few months. Wipe the oak-effect surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid abrasive pads, bleach and solvent cleaners, which can mark the finish. Keep the bed a little way from radiators so the panels are not exposed to direct heat.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We are unable to deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. The bed arrives flat packed in several boxes, and we will contact you to confirm your delivery window before it leaves the warehouse. If it is planned as a Christmas present, ordering early leaves time to build it before the big day.
