The Kudl High Sleeper is a whole bedroom stacked into the footprint of a single bed. The sleeping deck sits up high, and the space underneath becomes a study with a built-in desk, a small wardrobe with a hanging rail and a drawer, and a tall set of shelves. For box rooms, shared rooms and teenagers who need a proper work space, it frees up the rest of the floor completely.

There is a generous 144 cm from the floor to the underside of the bed, so there is real headroom for a child to sit at the desk and use the wardrobe. The clean white finish keeps a busy piece of furniture looking light, and it suits any colour scheme as your child’s taste changes.

Is a high sleeper right for your child?

High sleepers suit children of six and over who are confident climbing. They give the most floor space of any children’s bed, but they need a ceiling height of around 2.4 m or more so your child can sit up in bed without bumping their head. If the ceiling is lower, a Kudl mid sleeper is the better choice.

Mattress

The bed takes a standard UK single mattress, 90 x 190 cm, sold separately. Keep the mattress to a moderate depth so the high sides stay well above the sleeping surface. Matching single mattresses are suggested below this listing.

Safety at height

Raised beds are designed for children aged six and over, in line with the guidance that accompanies EN 747 for upper sleeping surfaces. Use a mattress that leaves the guard rail standing well above the sleeping surface, check the fixings every few months, and keep the ladder clear of toys at night. Younger siblings should not play on the upper level.

Assembly and care

Every Kudl bed arrives flat packed with labelled parts, fittings and step-by-step instructions. Two adults make assembly easier, and it is best to build the bed in the room where it will stay, because the finished frame is large. Re-tighten the fittings after the first few weeks and then every few months. Wipe the white surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid abrasive pads, bleach and solvent cleaners, which can mark the finish. Keep the bed a little way from radiators so the panels are not exposed to direct heat.

Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We are unable to deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. The bed arrives flat packed in several boxes, and we will contact you to confirm your delivery window before it leaves the warehouse. If it is planned as a Christmas present, ordering early leaves time to build it before the big day.
