Inca Rocking Chair

Description

Inca rocking chair: mid-century curves, gentle motion

The Inca rocking chair takes Kyoto’s best-selling Inca lounge chair and sets it on a pair of curved wooden rockers. The result is a calm, steady rocker with a padded seat and back, a stained wooden frame and a matching bolster cushion for lower-back support. It is a favourite for nurseries, reading corners and bedrooms, but its slim mid-century outline looks just as good in a living room next to a sofa or by a window.

Unlike bulky glider chairs, the Inca keeps a light footprint at 67cm wide, so it fits into the corner of a bedroom or beside a bookcase without crowding the space.

Comfort that suits long sittings

The seat is a generous 59cm wide and 59cm deep with a seat height of 48cm, so most adults can sit back with their feet flat on the floor and rock with a light push. The upholstered back is angled to support you while reading or feeding a baby, and the loose bolster cushion can be moved up or down to wherever you need it. Open, sweeping armrests at 65cm give you somewhere to rest your forearms without boxing you in.

Leto Natural woven chenille

The Inca rocking chair is upholstered in Leto Natural, a soft oatmeal woven chenille with a fine textured finish. The warm neutral tone sits beautifully against the brown-stained wooden frame and works with cream, white, sage, terracotta and grey colour schemes alike. Chenille is soft to the touch, which makes it a comfortable choice for a chair you will sit in for long stretches.

Where to use it

• Nursery: a quiet, supportive seat for night feeds and bedtime stories.
• Reading corner: pair it with a floor lamp and a side table for a cosy nook.
• Bedroom: a compact accent chair that is far more inviting than a dressing-table stool.
• Living room: an extra seat with character that complements a corner sofa or sofa bed.
