Inca Accent Chair

Description

The Inca Chair is a compact accent chair on a walnut-finished solid wood frame, upholstered in a woven chenille. At 67cm wide it is a genuinely small chair — the kind that fits in a bay window, beside a bed, in the corner of a home office or at the end of a hallway, where a full armchair would simply not go.

Two colourways: Leto Natural, an undyed oatmeal weave that reads as a light neutral, and Leto Green, a muted sage that works as a colour accent without shouting.

The measurements that matter

Small chairs are bought and regretted on the basis of a photograph. Here are the numbers so that does not happen. The seat is 46cm high, 60cm wide and 60cm deep, with the arms at 57cm. A 46cm seat height is normal dining-chair height, which means it is easy to get out of — a real consideration if the chair is for someone older, or for a bedroom where you sit to put shoes on. The 60cm seat depth is full size; this is a small chair by footprint, not by seat.

Overall it occupies 67 x 82cm of floor and stands 79cm high, so it will sit below most window sills and will not block a sight line.

Frame and fabric

The frame is solid wood in a walnut finish — visible legs rather than an upholstered base, which is part of why the chair reads as light in a small room. Woven chenille has a short pile with a slight sheen; it is warmer to sit on than a flat weave and more forgiving of everyday marks.

At 13kg it is light enough to move around a room on your own, which is more useful than it sounds in a house where the seating has to change depending on who is visiting.

Questions we are asked most

Is it big enough to be comfortable?

The seat is 60 x 60cm, which is full size — the same seat you would get on a much larger armchair. What is small is the frame around it. It is a chair to sit in properly, not a perch.

Will it fit in a bay window?

At 67cm wide and 79cm high it fits most standard bays and sits below the sill. Measure the narrowest point of your bay before ordering, not the widest.

Does it come assembled?

It arrives in one box with the legs to fit. It is a few minutes’ work with an allen key.

Which colour is more practical?

Green. The natural oatmeal is the better-looking of the two in a light room, but it is a pale undyed weave and it will show marks sooner. If the chair is going somewhere it will get daily use, choose the green.
