Inca Lounge Chair — Washed Frame

The Inca is a low, wide occasional chair — a scooped seat and a curved back carried on a shaped timber frame that is left fully exposed. Nothing is hidden. The frame is the design, and the upholstery sits inside it rather than over it.

That construction makes it lighter to move than it looks and easier to live with in a small room, because you can see through and under it. It is also what makes the frame finish worth choosing carefully — it is the first thing anyone sees.

This is the washed frame version — a pale, lightly bleached timber that keeps the whole chair light. Against a dark floor or a deep wall colour it reads as an outline rather than a mass, which is why it suits small rooms.

Two fabrics: Antheia Oatmeal linen, plain and warm, and Natural Chenille Stripe, which hides wear better than any plain fabric will.

Where it works

At 67 centimetres wide and only 79 tall it is a genuinely small chair — it fits a bedroom corner, a landing, a bay, or the space beside a fireplace where a full armchair would be too much. The low back makes it an occasional chair rather than a lounging one: comfortable for an hour, not for an evening.

If you want the same design with a darker, more dramatic frame, the Ribbed Walnut version is the alternative.

Caring for it

Vacuum weekly with a soft upholstery head. Blot spills from the outside inwards and never rub. Wipe the timber frame with a dry cloth — do not use polish on a washed finish, which will darken it unevenly.

Questions people ask

Is it comfortable for a whole evening? It is an occasional chair with a low back. Good for an hour with a book; a deep armchair wins over an evening.

How is it different from the Ribbed Walnut Inca? Same chair, different frame finish and different fabrics. Washed is pale; walnut is dark and ribbed.

Is it easy to get out of? At 79cm high with a low seat, less so than an upright armchair. Worth considering for older users.

Which fabric wears better? The stripe.

Does it need assembly? Minimal — the frame arrives built.
