Baxter 2 Seater Electric Recliner Sofa
The Baxter chair scaled to two seats, with both sides reclining independently: pocket sprung seats, plush backrests, traditional rounded arms and piping along the edges. Electric operation means a progressive recline — you stop wherever suits rather than at a fixed notch — and no pushing back against the frame to open it.
The pocket springs matter more on a two seater than on a chair. A sofa gets sat on in the same two places every evening, and a foam-only seat develops two visible dips within a few years. Springs under the foam hold the shape for considerably longer.
Measure before you order
At 137 centimetres wide this is a compact two seater — it will fit rooms a standard 160cm two seater will not. Three numbers decide it:
Your narrowest doorway, measured diagonally as well as straight across. Clearance behind — allow 30 to 40cm, as this is not a wall-hugger. Clearance in front — two footrests extended project further than most people picture, and it needs to be clear of a coffee table.
Note that the Hebe Grey textured chenille is built on a slightly larger frame at 140cm wide, so check the option you are ordering against your measurements.
Chenille, and how to keep it
Chenille is a pile fabric — short tufts in a woven base — soft to the touch and good at hiding light marks. The pile flattens where it is used most, which on a two seater means the two seat cushions and the headrest line. Vacuum weekly with a soft upholstery head, brush the pile back one way if it starts to look patchy, and blot spills rather than rubbing.
