Description

The Primo is a three-seater electric recliner sofa in a woven chenille, and the thing that separates it from most recliners at this price is that the back and the headrest move independently of each other. On a single-motor recliner the whole back goes over as one piece and your head goes with it, which is why so many recliners are comfortable to lie back in and useless to watch television in. On the Primo you can drop the back and bring the headrest forward, so your eyeline stays where you want it.

Both actions are powered and controlled from buttons set into the inner arm — no levers, no handles, nothing to reach behind you for.

Woven chenille in Mole

Mole is a warm mid-brown — the colour that sits between grey and beige and gets on with almost everything. Chenille is a short-pile fabric with a slight sheen that catches the light, and it is a forgiving choice on a large piece: the texture breaks up the surface so everyday marks and creasing read far less than they would on a flat weave or a leather.

Space you will need

This is a large sofa and it reclines, so there are two footprints to think about. Closed, it is 89cm high and 108cm deep. Reclined, the back goes over and the footrest comes out, and you need clear floor behind and in front. As a working rule leave at least 30cm behind the sofa and a metre in front before you order.

A note on the width. Kyoto’s own published figures disagree with each other — one field gives an overall width of 174cm and another 215cm, against a seat width of 168cm. 215cm is the figure consistent with a 168cm seat plus two arms, and that is what we would plan around, but we are asking them to confirm it in writing. If the width is the deciding factor for your room, contact us before you order and we will get you the confirmed figure.

This is a pre-order. Kyoto launch the Primo range on 22 September 2026, and stock reaches us shortly after. You can order it now and we will dispatch it as soon as our stock lands. Nothing is taken from you that we cannot fulfil — if the date moves, we will tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund at any point before it ships.

Why order now rather than wait? Pre-orders are filled in the order they are received, and the first delivery of a new line is usually the smallest. If you want it, reserving it now is the surest way to get it from the first batch.

Delivered free to mainland England and Wales. We do not currently deliver to the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland or the offshore islands.

This piece arrives in two boxes and weighs 110kg. It is a two-person lift. Please make sure someone is there to help on the day, and measure your doorways, stairs and any turn on the landing before you order — a sofa of this size that will not go up the stairs is the most expensive mistake in furniture.

Questions we are asked most

What does “back and headrest move independently” actually mean?

Two separate motors. You can recline the back without the headrest going flat with it, so you can lie back and still have your head up to watch something. On a single-motor recliner you cannot — it is one movement and your eyeline goes with it.

Does it need to be near a plug?

Yes. It is a powered recliner and it needs mains power. Plan for a socket within reach of the back of the sofa.

How much space do I need behind it?

Leave at least 30cm clear behind the sofa for the back to travel, and about a metre in front for the footrest. If it has to go against a wall, measure the wall run first and ask us for the reclined depth.

Is it a two-person delivery?

It should be. At 110kg in two boxes it is not a one-person job, and we would rather you had help arranged than have the driver leave it on the drive.
