The Primo is a contemporary recliner rather than a traditional one, and the proportions tell you that before anything else: 108 centimetres wide but only 89 tall. A traditional recliner like the Baxter is narrow and high-backed. This is the opposite — a wide, low, generous seat that reads as a modern armchair rather than as a recliner parked in the corner.

The back and the headrest move independently, controlled by buttons on the inner arm. That second adjustment is the one people notice: on a low-backed chair the headrest is what decides whether your neck is supported when you lie back, and being able to set it separately means one chair suits two people of different heights.

Finished in Mole woven chenille — a warm mid-grey-brown that sits comfortably against both cool and warm schemes.

Before you order

At 108cm wide this is a broad chair — measure the wall space, not just the doorway. Measure your narrowest doorway diagonally as well as straight across. Allow 30 to 40cm of clearance behind to recline, and room in front for the footrest.

Because the back is low, this chair will not suit someone who wants their head supported while sitting upright. It is designed to be reclined into.

Woven chenille, and how to keep it

Chenille is a pile fabric — short tufts held in a woven base. It is soft to the touch and forgiving of light marks, and the pile flattens where it is used most. Vacuum weekly with a soft upholstery head, brush the pile back one way if it looks patchy, and blot spills rather than rubbing.
