Description
Black boucle on brushed metal legs
Black upholstery is usually leather, and leather in black usually reads as heavy. The Albany does the opposite. Boucle is a looped yarn with a deep, textured pile, so in black it absorbs light rather than reflecting it, and the fabric shows its weave instead of a flat block of colour. Set on slim, splayed brushed metal legs, the whole frame is lifted clear of the floor — which is the detail that stops a large black sofa dominating a room.
A range, not a single sofa
The Albany comes in four pieces that share the same frame, arm profile and leg, so they can be mixed without anything looking approximate:
- 4 Seater — 250cm. For a large room, or where one long sofa beats two smaller ones.
- 3 Seater — 218cm. The standard living-room size.
- 2 Seater — 175cm. Works as a second piece facing the three, or on its own in a smaller room.
- Footstool — 90 x 65cm. Doubles as a low table with a tray on it.
How it sits
Seat height is 45cm and seat depth 60cm across every size — upright enough to eat or work from, deep enough to relax in. The 89cm back gives proper shoulder support, which the current fashion for very low-backed sofas often does not.

Buying a range rather than a sofa
The advantage of a range is consistency: the same frame, the same arm and the same fabric across several sizes, so the pieces sit together properly in a room instead of almost matching. If you expect to add to the seating later, buying into a range is the decision that makes that possible.
Living with bouclé
Bouclé is a looped yarn. The texture hides light marks and creasing far better than a flat weave, and it snags on claws and sharp zips. If a loop pulls, ease it back with a blunt needle rather than cutting it, and vacuum with a soft brush head rather than a beater bar.
In black, the texture is what keeps it from reading as a flat slab — light catches the loops and gives the surface depth that black flat weave does not have.

Questions people ask
Does black show dust? More than mid tones. Weekly vacuuming handles it.
Will light pet hair show? Yes, clearly. A rubber brush lifts it quickly.
Which pieces are in the range? See the options on this page for current availability.
Is black bouclé a risk with young children? Less than you would think — the texture hides a lot. Deal with spills promptly.
How firm is the seat? Medium, with a soft surface feel from the looped fabric.
