Suzie Barrel Armchair
A barrel chair is one where the back curves round to meet the arms in a continuous sweep — no corners, no visible joins. The Suzie does that with sloping arms and a plush seat, and then adds the detail that makes it: light show-wood accents framing the front of each arm.
Show wood is a small thing that changes a chair entirely. Fully upholstered curved chairs can read as soft and shapeless; a strip of exposed timber at the front of the arm gives the eye an edge to read the form against. It is also the part of an arm that takes most wear, so having it in wood rather than fabric is practical as well as decorative.

Where it works
At 75.5 centimetres wide and 79 tall it is compact and low — a chair for a corner, a bay, a bedroom or beside a fireplace. The enclosing barrel shape makes it a natural reading chair, and because there are no protruding arms it takes up less floor than the seat width suggests.
Buy two facing each other and you have a conversation corner in a room that could not take another sofa.
Living with bouclé
Bouclé is a looped yarn — the loops give it that soft, nubbly surface, and they hide light marks and creasing far better than a flat weave. The trade is snagging: a claw, a ring, a sharp zip. If a loop pulls, ease it back with a blunt needle rather than cutting it, and vacuum with a soft brush head rather than a beater bar. If you have a cat that scratches furniture, choose a different fabric.

Is the show wood real timber? Yes — exposed wood at the front of each arm.
Is it comfortable for long periods? The barrel shape is enclosing and the seat is plush. Good for an evening with a book.
Does it swivel? No — it is a fixed chair. The Micky is the swivel equivalent in the same bouclé family.
Which colour hides marks best? Grey and olive. Natural shows more, though the bouclé texture disguises a great deal.
Does it need assembly? The legs attach.
