Description

The Lincoln is a four piece emerald green corner sofa with a fixed full back, a double sprung seat and a line of large chrome studs running down the front of each arm. It measures 239 x 173 cm, which suits a living room where one wall is around 2.4 m long and the return wall has space for a 1.7 m run.

Why choose an emerald green corner sofa

Emerald is a colour that works hard in a neutral room. Against white or grey walls and a light wood floor it becomes the single point of colour, so the rest of the room can stay plain. Brass or gold lamps, a walnut coffee table and cream or mustard cushions all sit comfortably next to it. Chrome studs on a green body give a slightly more traditional look than a plain modern corner.

Four pieces through a standard door

The Lincoln comes as four modules that join in the room. A 239 cm L-shape will not go up most staircases in one piece; four modules will. That makes it a realistic choice for a terraced house or a first-floor flat, provided you check the access route first.

Fixed back, double sprung seat

The back is fully upholstered and fixed, so it keeps its shape without daily plumping. Under the seat cushions is a double sprung unit rather than webbing alone, which is the part of the specification that keeps a corner sofa sitting level after years of everyday use.

Measure before you order

Three numbers matter: the width of your narrowest doorway, the width of the turn at the top or bottom of the stairs, and the length of the wall the long side will sit against. Measure the doorway diagonally as well as straight across. Leave at least 60 cm of walking space in front of the seat; a corner group always takes up more of the room than it looks on paper.

Fabric and care

Vacuum the seat and back weekly with an upholstery attachment, as grit wears fabric faster than sitting does. Blot spills rather than rubbing, working from the outside of the mark inwards. Plump and turn the seat cushions regularly so one end does not take all the wear, and keep the sofa out of strong direct sunlight, which fades deep colours unevenly.
