The Jay-Be Benchmark S1 Comfort Essential Support Mattress is the starting point of Jay-Be’s Benchmark range: a deep sprung core topped with two fibre comfort layers under a quilted knitted cover. It is a straightforward, well-made mattress for a main bedroom on a budget, a guest room, a student let or a teenager’s first double, and it is available in Single, Small Double, Double and King.

Like the rest of the Benchmark range it is 100% foam-free. The comfort comes from Advance e-Fibre™ and Rebound e-Fibre™, open-cell fibre fillings that let air move through the mattress and help wick away moisture, so it sleeps fresher than a foam-topped mattress at the same price. Jay-Be makes it in the UK in a certified zero-to-landfill factory and now backs it with a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.

Unpacking and care

Carry the roll to the bedroom before you open it. Place it on the bed base, cut the outer wrap carefully with the blade facing away from the cover, and let it unroll. Give it 24 to 48 hours in a ventilated room to reach full depth. Use the side handles to rotate it head to toe every few weeks for the first three months, then every three months. A breathable mattress protector keeps the quilted cover clean.

Free delivery to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey, by courier to your door. The rolled pack fits through narrow doorways and up tight stairs. We do not deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly.

It works for couples, but the interconnected spring core moves as one, so a light sleeper may notice a partner turning. The pocket-sprung Benchmark S5 is the better choice if that matters.

Do I need to flip it?

No, just rotate it head to toe regularly using the side handles.
