Hybrid Mattress

In short: a hybrid mattress combines a spring unit with layers of foam, memory foam or natural fibres, giving the bounce and airflow of springs with the pressure relief of foam. Our hybrid mattresses start from £131 and are made in Britain by Jay-Be, plus the Apley Wellbeing and Pacino models made by Sweet Dreams in Lancashire. Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales.

Hybrid vs pocket sprung vs memory foam
A traditional pocket sprung mattress uses springs with fibre fillings, so it sleeps cool and feels bouncy. A memory foam mattress moulds closely to the body but can feel warm. A hybrid sits between the two: springs for support and airflow, foam on top for contouring. Our guide to pocket sprung mattress pros and cons explains spring counts in more detail.

Hybrid mattress questions

What sizes do your hybrid mattresses come in?
Most come in single (90 x 190cm), small double (120 x 190cm), double (135 x 190cm) and king (150 x 200cm); the Apley Wellbeing and Pacino models also come in super king (180 x 200cm).

Are hybrid mattresses good for side sleepers?
Many side sleepers like them because the foam layer cushions shoulders and hips while the springs keep the spine supported. Choose a medium feel rather than very firm. See our guide to the best mattress for side sleepers.

Do hybrid mattresses sleep hot?
Less than all-foam mattresses, because air moves through the spring unit. Options such as Bio Cool and Wellbeing Kool Memory add cooling fabrics.

Are they made in the UK?
Yes. The Jay-Be hybrids are made in Britain, and the Apley-branded hybrids are made by Sweet Dreams in Lancashire.

Is delivery free?
Yes, to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. See delivery information.
