A 3.4 metre curve, not a straight line

Most large sofas solve one problem — seating — and create another, which is that they push every conversation into a straight row facing a television. The Pebble is shaped the other way. Its 340cm run bends through a long, shallow curve, so the people sitting at each end are angled slightly towards one another rather than staring at the same wall.

That shape also means it does not have to live against a wall. In an open-plan room the curve works as a divider, separating a sitting area from a dining or kitchen space without a single piece of joinery. If your room is a long rectangle and you have been trying to make a conventional three-plus-two work in it, this is the piece that solves it.

Grey boucle

Boucle is a looped yarn rather than a flat weave, so the surface carries a dense, slightly nubbly pile. On a curved frame that matters more than it does on a square one: the loops catch light differently across the bend, which is what stops a sofa this size from reading as a single flat slab of fabric. The grey is a mid, neutral tone that sits comfortably against both warm woods and cooler greys.

Low back, deep seat

At 76cm tall the back is deliberately low. On a piece this long a high back would dominate the room and block sightlines across it; keeping it low means the sofa reads as furniture rather than as a wall. The 95cm depth gives you a seat you sit back into, and the loose bolster cushions let you set your own back support rather than living with whatever the frame dictates.
