Description
It turns
A swivel base sounds like a small thing until you live with one. An accent chair usually faces one way — towards the television, or towards the room, and you choose once. A swivel chair faces whichever way the evening requires, without anybody dragging furniture across the floor. In an open-plan room where the sitting area, the kitchen and the window all want your attention at different times, that is the whole point of the piece.
Boucle, in three colours worth choosing
Boucle is a looped yarn with a dense, nubbly pile. These are not timid colours — blush orange, navy blue and emerald green are all strong enough to anchor a corner on their own. That is deliberate: an accent chair that matches the sofa is not an accent, it is just another seat.
Each chair comes with two scatter cushions in a coordinating finish.
Compact by design
At 84cm wide and 76cm deep it takes up little more floor space than a dining chair while giving you a proper armchair to sit in. The 74cm height keeps it below most window sills, so it can go in a bay without blocking the light.

Living with bouclé
Bouclé is a looped yarn, which is what gives it that soft, nubbly surface. Two things follow from that. It is forgiving — the texture hides light marks and creasing far better than a flat weave. And it is snag-prone — a claw or a sharp zip can pull a loop out of line.
If a loop does pull, do not cut it. Ease it back into the weave with a blunt needle or the tip of a pen. Vacuum with a soft brush head rather than a beater bar, which is what tugs loops loose in the first place.
The swivel
A swivel base earns its place in a room where the seating has to do two jobs — face the television, then turn to face the room when people arrive. It rotates on a smooth plate rather than a ratchet, so it turns quietly and stops where you leave it.

Questions people ask
Does it return to its starting position on its own? No. It stays where you turn it, which is what most people want in a living room.
Will the base mark a wooden floor? Use a felt pad or a rug underneath if the floor is soft. The base is heavy by design, for stability.
Does it rock as well as swivel? It swivels only.
Is it steady enough for someone who needs to push up from the arms? The base is weighted, but any swivel chair moves more than a fixed one. If that matters, a fixed accent chair is the safer choice.
How much room does it need to turn? Allow the width of the chair plus a few centimetres all round.
