Description

An affordable, foam-free first mattress for a growing child

The Jay-Be Quest Q1 Endless Comfort Mattress is the entry point to Jay-Be’s Quest children’s range: a 16 cm deep, open-sprung single mattress with breathable fibre layers, no foam and a soft knitted cover. It gives a child even support from the first night in a big bed through to the early teens, and its shallow depth means it also suits many cabin beds, mid sleepers and bunk beds where a deeper mattress would sit too high.

What is inside

  • Soft knitted cover: gentle on skin and breathable.
  • Advance e-Fibre™: Jay-Be’s eco award-winning fine fibre for a soft top layer. Jay-Be states it needs far less water, land and CO₂ to produce than cotton.
  • Rebound e-Fibre™: a springier fibre made from recycled bottles that helps the surface follow the child’s shape.
  • High-density e-Fibre™ support and base layers: insulate the springs above and below.
  • Deep e-Spring™ core: a traditional open-coil unit that spreads weight evenly for consistent support.
  • 3D spacer border and handles: an airflow panel around the sides helps moisture escape, and handles make it easier to turn and lift.

It contains no foam and no harmful chemical emissions, is naturally fire resistant without added chemical treatments, and uses hypoallergenic materials. It is a non-flip design, so you only need to rotate it head to foot.

Choosing between Q1, Q2 and Q3

All three Quest mattresses are single size, foam-free and made in the UK. The Q1 has an open-coil spring core and is the lightest and most affordable. The Q2 adds a pocket spring unit for more individual support. The Quest Q3 is a hybrid with a second layer of micro pocket springs for older children and teenagers who want a more luxurious feel. For most children aged about three to ten, the Q1 gives all the support they need.

Setting it up

Take the roll to the bedroom before opening it. Remove the outer wrap carefully, keeping blades away from the fabric, and let the mattress unroll on the bed. Give it 24 to 48 hours in a ventilated room to reach its full depth before your child sleeps on it. Rotate it head to foot every few weeks for the first three months, then every three months, and use a washable protector.

Delivery

Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. The mattress is delivered rolled, so it is easy to carry up stairs and through narrow doorways. We cannot deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly.

Frequently asked questions

What age is the Quest Q1 suitable for?

It suits children moving into a single bed, usually from about three years old, and gives enough support to last into the early teens.

Can it go on a bunk bed or cabin bed?

Often, yes. At 16 cm deep it fits beds with a 15 to 18 cm maximum mattress depth. On a top bunk, check that the mattress top sits at least 16 cm below the guard rail, as bunk bed safety standards require.

What bed base does it need?

Any firm, flat base: a slatted single frame with gaps no wider than about 7 cm, a solid platform or a divan. On wider-spaced slats the springs can sag between them.

Is it suitable for a child with allergies?

It uses hypoallergenic, foam-free materials and a breathable cover. It does not have a specific anti-allergy treatment; for that, look at Jay-Be’s Simply Kids Anti-Allergy range.

Does it need flipping?

No. It is a one-sided, non-flip mattress. Just rotate it head to foot.
