Description
A foam-free anti-allergy mattress at an everyday price
The Jay-Be Pure Anti-Allergy Comfort Sprung Mattress brings the plant-oil anti-allergy cover from Jay-Be’s Pure collection to a traditional deep spring unit, so you get a cleaner, fresher sleeping surface without paying for a pocket spring core. It is a sensible choice for a main bedroom on a budget, a teenager’s room, or a guest bed that needs to be kind to visitors with allergies. The feel is medium, the depth is 21 cm, and it is made in Britain with no foam at all.
What makes it “anti-allergy” is the top fabric. Jay-Be knits the cover with margosa oil, taken from the neem tree, which makes the surface a less comfortable home for house dust mites, and linseed oil, which helps limit the odours that bacteria create. Under the cover the comfort layers are made from e-Fibre™ rather than foam, so air can pass through the mattress and moisture does not get trapped against your body.
How it is built
- Anti-allergy knitted cover, treated with margosa and linseed oils. The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, an independent test for harmful substances.
- Advance e-Fibre™ comfort layer for a soft, cushioned first touch. Jay-Be states this fibre uses around 99% less water and land, with 90% lower CO₂, than conventional cotton fibre.
- Breathable rebound e-Fibre™ that gives under shoulders and hips and recovers when you turn.
- High-density e-Fibre™ insulator pad so you never feel the springs through the top.
- Deep spring core: an interlinked spring unit that spreads your weight evenly across the whole surface.
- High-density e-Fibre™ foundation layer underneath for a firm, even base.
Fire-safety rules are met with a salt-based fire-retardant treatment rather than an added chemical finish. No animal-derived materials are used, so the mattress is suitable for vegans.
Sprung or pocket sprung: which Pure mattress?
This model uses a traditional spring unit, where the springs are linked together and work as one. It feels supportive and slightly bouncy, and it costs less. The Jay-Be Pure Anti-Allergy 800 Pocket Sprung Mattress has the same cover and fibre layers over 800 separately pocketed springs and is 2 cm deeper. Pocket springs follow your body more closely and pass on less movement, so couples who disturb each other usually prefer the pocket version. For a single sleeper, a child, a spare room or a tighter budget, the comfort sprung model is the better value.
Who it suits
Choose it if you or your family live with dust-mite allergy, hay fever, asthma or eczema and want a hypoallergenic surface; if you find foam mattresses too warm; or if you want a British-made mattress with a long guarantee for well under £220. A medium feel suits back and side sleepers who want support without a hard surface.

Setting it up
Take the roll to the room where it will be used before you open it. Place it on the bed, carefully remove the outer packaging without using a sharp blade near the fabric, and let it unroll. It starts to recover immediately; allow 24 to 48 hours with a window open for it to reach its full 21 cm and for any packaging smell to clear. Turn it head to foot every couple of weeks for the first three months, then every three months, so the fillings settle evenly. A breathable, washable protector will keep the cover fresh.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. The mattress travels rolled, so it is easy to carry up narrow staircases and through tight doorways. We cannot deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly.
Frequently asked questions
Will it help with a dust-mite allergy?
It is designed to. The cover’s margosa oil makes the surface less hospitable to dust mites and the fillings are hypoallergenic and foam-free. No mattress can remove allergens entirely, so use a washable protector and wash bedding at 60°C as well.
How firm does it feel?
Jay-Be rates it medium: a soft fibre top over a supportive spring unit. It suits most back and side sleepers.
What is the difference from the Pure 800 pocket sprung version?
Same anti-allergy cover and fibre layers, but this one has a traditional spring unit and is 21 cm deep rather than 23 cm. It costs less; the pocket version moves less when a partner turns over.
Does it contain any foam?
No. Every comfort layer is e-Fibre™, which is why it breathes well and tends to sleep cooler than foam mattresses.
Which bed sizes does it fit?
Standard UK sizes: Single 90 × 190 cm, Small Double 120 × 190 cm, Double 135 × 190 cm and King 150 × 200 cm. It fits any frame, divan or ottoman of the same size.
