Description

An 800-spring anti-allergy mattress for people who wake up stuffy

The Jay-Be Pure Anti-Allergy 800 Pocket Sprung Mattress is aimed at sleepers with dust-mite allergies, hay fever or sensitive skin, and at anyone who simply wants a cleaner, fresher bed. It joined Jay-Be’s adult range in spring 2026. The cover is a soft knitted fabric treated with two plant oils, margosa (from the neem tree) to make the surface a less welcoming place for dust mites, and linseed to help keep odours from microbes down. Underneath, 800 individually pocketed springs move independently, so the mattress follows your shape and you feel less of your partner turning over.

There is no foam anywhere in it. Every comfort layer is e-Fibre™, a fibre filling that lets air move through the mattress, which helps it stay cooler and drier through the night than a foam-topped design. The feel is medium-firm and the depth is 23 cm. It is made in the UK at a zero-to-landfill factory, arrives vacuum-packed and rolled, and carries Jay-Be’s 10-year guarantee.

What is inside, layer by layer

  • Anti-allergy knitted cover treated with margosa and linseed oils. The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which means it has been tested for harmful substances.
  • Advance e-Fibre™ comfort layer for a soft first feel when you lie down. Jay-Be says this fibre is produced with far less water, land and CO₂ than conventional cotton fibre.
  • Breathable rebound e-Fibre™ that cushions the shoulders and hips and springs back when you move.
  • High-density e-Fibre™ insulator that stops you feeling the springs.
  • 800 pocket spring core: each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and works on its own, giving adaptive support and low motion transfer.
  • High-density e-Fibre™ foundation layer under the springs for a stable base.

Fire safety is met with a salt-based fire-retardant treatment rather than an extra chemical finish, which matters to many people who choose an anti-allergy mattress in the first place. No animal-derived materials are used, so the mattress is vegan-friendly.

Who it suits

It is a good fit for allergy sufferers and people with asthma or eczema who want a hypoallergenic sleep surface, for couples who are disturbed by each other’s movement, and for warm sleepers who find memory foam too hot. Medium-firm suits back sleepers and most side sleepers. If you prefer a very soft or a very firm bed, compare the Jay-Be Flex Ultra-Firm or a memory option first. If you want the same anti-allergy cover with a lower price, Jay-Be also makes a Pure Anti-Allergy open-coil (sprung) version.

Unpacking and care

Carry the roll to the bedroom before opening it; it is far easier to move rolled than flat. Lay it on the bed base, cut the outer wrap carefully (no sharp blades near the cover), and let it unroll. It will take shape within minutes, but give it 24 to 48 hours in a ventilated room to reach full depth and lose the new-mattress smell. Rotate it head to toe every few weeks for the first three months, then every three months. A breathable mattress protector keeps the cover clean without blocking airflow.

Delivery

Free delivery to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey, by courier to your door. Because the mattress comes rolled in a box-sized pack, it fits through narrow doors and up tight stairs. We do not deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly.

Frequently asked questions

Is this mattress good for dust-mite allergies?

It is designed with that in mind. The cover is treated with margosa oil to make it a less hospitable place for dust mites, the fillings are hypoallergenic, and there is no foam. No mattress removes allergens completely, so pair it with a washable protector and wash bedding at 60°C.

How firm is it?

Medium-firm. It has a soft fibre top over a supportive pocket spring core, which suits back sleepers and most side sleepers.

Does it sleep hot?

It is 100% foam-free and the fibre layers let air through, so it generally sleeps cooler than memory foam or foam-topped mattresses.

Do I need to turn it?

Rotate it head to toe regularly to even out wear. Check the label on delivery for whether it is single-sided before flipping it over.

What sizes are there, and which beds does it fit?

UK Single (90 × 190 cm), Small Double (120 × 190 cm), Double (135 × 190 cm) and King (150 × 200 cm). It fits any standard UK bed frame, divan or ottoman of the same size. It is 23 cm deep, so check headboard and side-rail heights on low-profile frames.
