The Georgia Ottoman Bed is a multi-lift ottoman bed frame upholstered in a textured weave, available in double and king size and in two colourways. Multi-lift is the part that matters: the base lifts on gas struts from either side or from the foot, rather than only from the foot. In a room where one side of the bed is against a wall — which is most small bedrooms — that is the difference between storage you can actually reach and storage you cannot.

Why an ottoman bed

An ottoman bed turns the dead space under the mattress into the largest single storage volume in a normal bedroom — more than most wardrobes, and far more than a set of divan drawers, because there are no drawer boxes eating into it and no need for clearance at the side to pull anything out. It is where spare duvets, suitcases, winter coats and out-of-season clothes go in a house that has run out of cupboards.

The practical trade-off is that you lift the mattress to get at it, so it suits things you need occasionally rather than daily. Gas struts do the lifting, so the effort is modest even with a heavy mattress on top, but it is not a drawer.

Multi-lift, and why it matters

A standard ottoman lifts from the foot end only. That works if the bed sits with clear floor at the foot, and fails if it is tucked into an alcove or a bay. A multi-lift base can be opened from either side as well, so you can put the bed where the room wants it rather than where the mechanism demands.

Fabric and colour

Two colourways in the same textured weave: Asteria Grey and Asteria Stone. Both are mid-tone neutrals with a visible weave texture — the sort of finish that hides everyday marks far better than a flat or very pale fabric, and that does not date the way a strong colour does on a piece of furniture you will keep for a decade.

Dimensions

Kyoto have not published frame dimensions for the Georgia. The mattress sizes are standard UK — double 135 x 190cm and king 150 x 200cm — but the external frame footprint adds to that, and by how much depends on the upholstery depth. If the bedroom is tight, contact us before you order and we will get the external measurements confirmed by the manufacturer in writing. We would rather spend a day on that than have you take delivery of something that will not go in the room.

This is a pre-order. Kyoto launch the Georgia Ottoman Bed on 22 September 2026, and stock reaches us shortly after. You can order it now and we will dispatch it as soon as our stock lands. Nothing is taken from you that we cannot fulfil — if the date moves, we will tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund at any point before it ships.

Is a mattress included?

No. The Georgia is a bed frame. You can use your existing mattress provided it is a standard UK double or king.

Can I open it if the bed is against a wall?

Yes — that is what multi-lift is for. It opens from the side or from the foot, so one side being against a wall does not lock you out of the storage.

How much will it hold?

The whole footprint of the bed, to the depth of the base. In practical terms that is several suitcases, a spare duvet, pillows and a season of clothes in a double, and noticeably more in a king.

Is it heavy to lift?

Gas struts take most of the weight, so the lift is manageable one-handed with a normal mattress on top. A very heavy pocket sprung mattress will make it harder, as it does on any ottoman.
