Description
Bentley Parquet Coffee Table
At 120 by 60 centimetres this is a full-size coffee table rather than a token one, and the herringbone top is what you notice first. Short lengths of timber laid at opposing angles catch light differently across the surface, so the table changes as you move around it — which is the whole reason parquet has outlasted every flat-board alternative.
The legs are slim, tapered and black, set in from the corners. That combination does something specific in a small room: the heavy element sits at eye level where you want it, and the base almost disappears, so the table does not read as a solid block in the middle of the floor.
Getting the size right
The rule worth following is that a coffee table should be roughly two thirds the length of the sofa it serves. At 120cm this suits a three seater comfortably and a large two seater well. Leave 40 to 45cm between the sofa edge and the table — close enough to reach a mug without leaning, far enough to walk past.
At 45cm high it sits fractionally below most sofa seats, which is the height that makes a table feel right to use rather than to look at.

Questions people ask
Is the herringbone real wood? Yes — real timber laid in a herringbone pattern, not a print on board.
How heavy is it? Solid wood at this size is a two-person lift. Plan for that on the day rather than on the stairs.
Will it mark if I put a hot mug on it? Like any solid timber, yes. Use a coaster and wipe spills promptly.
Does it match the Bentley console and lamp table? Same top construction and leg finish. Natural wood varies slightly in tone between pieces.
Can children climb on it? It is not designed to be stood on. The legs are set in from the corners, which is good for toes and less good for weight at the edges.
