The Jay-Be Slim Snuggler is a sofa bed chair for rooms where every centimetre counts. As a chair it is just 105 cm wide, with narrow, squared-off arms that give you a generous seat without a bulky footprint. Pull it out and it opens into a single bed with a 195 x 76 cm deep-sprung, wool-topped mattress already in place, so you do not need to buy or store a separate mattress. The seat and back cushions stay on the mechanism as it unfolds, so there is nothing to lift off and find a home for.

Each Slim Snuggler is hand-upholstered to order in the UK, in your choice of 26 fabrics, and comes with Jay-Be’s lifetime frame guarantee and 5-year mattress guarantee.

Where it works best

• Home offices and box rooms that need to double as a guest room without losing the floor space to a bed.
• Flats and smaller living rooms, where a 105 cm chair fits beside a sofa or in an alcove.
• Children’s and teenagers’ rooms, as a reading chair that turns into a sleepover bed.
• Grandparents’ and carers’ visits, as the bed height of about 55 cm is easier to get in and out of than an air bed or a floor-level futon.

Before you order, check you have about 219 cm of clear floor in front of the back of the chair, which is the length when open.

The mattress

Unlike many chair beds, which use a thin foam pad, the Slim Snuggler has a proper sprung mattress. Inside, a Deep e-Spring™ core sits between high-density e-Fibre™ layers, with breathable e-Fibre™ support layers and a wool comfort layer on each side, all inside a viscose-enriched fabric cover. The wool helps draw moisture away and keeps the bed feeling fresh, and the fibre fillings let air move through. The mattress is treated with a natural, salt-based fire retardant and is 100% recyclable at the end of its life.

Fabrics

Choose from three fabric families, each in a range of shades:

• Luxe Velvet – a deep, soft-pile velvet in nine colours: Airforce, Bottle Green, Cedar, Charcoal, Mink, Royal, Saffron, Shiraz and Steel.
• Brushed Twill – a flat-woven fabric with a natural, wool-like look in seven colours: Admiral, Burnt Amber, Hunter, Linen, Pewter, Sky and Smoke.
• Cosy Chenille – a soft, textured chenille in ten colours: Aqua, Beam, Cobalt, Cork, Dreamy, Foxy, Hedge, Mauve, Sketch and Spice.

The upholstery fabrics carry GreenFR® protection, a non-toxic flame-resistant treatment, and Jay-Be’s fabric panel shows OEKO-TEX® certification. Screen colours vary, so if you are matching an existing room, contact us before ordering.

Delivery

Free delivery to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. Because each chair is upholstered after you order, please allow 4–6 weeks. We do not deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. Measure doorways and stairs before ordering: the chair is 84 cm high and 102 cm deep.

How big is the bed when it is open?

The sleeping area is 195 x 76 cm, which is a narrow single for one adult or child. The whole chair needs about 219 cm of floor length when open.

Is the mattress comfortable enough for more than the odd night?

It is a deep sprung mattress with wool and fibre layers, not a foam pad, so it is built for regular guest use. For nightly sleeping every day, most people choose a dedicated bed.

Do I need to remove the cushions to open it?

No. The mechanism keeps the seat and back cushions in place while it folds out.

Why does it take 4–6 weeks?

Jay-Be hand-makes each chair in the UK in the fabric you choose. It is not held in stock, which is why you get 26 fabric options.

What is the difference between the Slim Snuggler and the Elegance Snuggler?

Both open into a 195 x 76 cm sprung bed. The Slim is the narrowest at 105 cm wide, with slim arms. The Elegance has taller, angled arms and is 131 cm wide. Choose the Slim if floor space is your main constraint.
