Description
A pocket-sprung mattress made for bunk beds
The Jay-Be Bunk e-Pocket™ is a single mattress designed for the top and bottom bunks of a children’s bunk bed. At 16 cm deep it is shallow enough to sit safely below the guard rail on most UK bunk beds, yet it has a pocket-sprung core rather than the thin foam pad many bunks are sold with. It measures 90 x 190 cm, contains no foam at all and is made in the UK by Jay-Be with a 5-year guarantee.
Why mattress depth matters on a bunk bed
A bunk bed’s safety barrier only works if enough of it sits above the mattress. Jay-Be’s guidance, in line with the British and European bunk bed standard BS EN 747-1, is that the top of the mattress should be at least 160 mm below the upper edge of the safety barrier. Before you buy, measure from the top of your bunk’s slats to the top of its guard rail. If that distance is at least 32 cm, this 16 cm mattress leaves the required clearance. The bunk bed maker’s own instructions always take priority.
What is inside
- Soft knitted fabric sleeping surface, made with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified fabric.
- Breathable rebound e-Fibre™ comfort layer that springs back quickly as children move about.
- High-density e-Fibre™ support layer over the springs.
- e-Pocket™ spring core: individually pocketed springs that respond to each part of the body, so the mattress supports evenly instead of sagging in the middle.
- High-density e-Fibre™ base layer for stability on bunk slats.
Fibre fillings let air move through the mattress, so it stays fresher and cooler than a foam pad. The fire-retardant treatment is natural rather than chemical, and the materials are free from harmful chemical emissions. Jay-Be’s e-Fibre™ layers are made with more than 70% recycled content, the mattress is 100% recyclable, and it is built in a zero-to-landfill factory.
Bunk e-Pocket™ or another Jay-Be bunk mattress?
The Jay-Be Bunk e-Sprung™ is the same depth with an open-coil spring unit and costs less; it suits a bunk used for sleepovers. The Simply Kids Anti-Allergy Bunk Mattress adds an anti-allergy treated cover and comes in Euro Single and Small Double sizes as well. This e-Pocket™ version is the one to choose for a bunk a child sleeps in every night.

Unpacking and care
The mattress arrives rolled and vacuum-packed. Put it on the bunk before opening it, cut the wrapping carefully and let it expand for 24 hours in a ventilated room. Turn it head to foot every few weeks so it wears evenly, and use a breathable protector to guard against spills.
Delivery
Free delivery to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey, by courier to your door. The rolled pack is small enough to carry upstairs easily. We do not deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly.
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my bunk bed?
It fits any bunk, cabin bed or single bed designed for a standard UK single mattress of 90 x 190 cm. Check that the guard rail stands at least 32 cm above the slats so the 16 cm mattress leaves 160 mm of barrier above it.
Can I use it on a normal single bed too?
Yes. It works on any UK single frame. On a standard bed most adults would choose a deeper mattress, but for a child’s single bed it is a good fit.
Is it suitable for children with allergies?
The fibre fillings are foam-free and the cover is OEKO-TEX® certified, free from harmful substances. If your child has a dust mite allergy, the Simply Kids Anti-Allergy Bunk Mattress has an anti-allergy treated cover.
Why choose pocket springs for a child?
Pocket springs work independently, so they support a growing body evenly and resist the dips that cheap foam bunk pads develop.
How long will it last?
Jay-Be gives it a 5-year guarantee. Turning it regularly and using a protector help it last.
