Description
Scott click clack chair: an armless chair that folds flat into a single guest bed
The Scott click clack chair is a compact, armless chair bed for rooms where every piece of furniture has to earn its place. Upright, it is a deep, comfortable lounge chair on walnut-finish legs. Lift and click the back and it reclines; lower it fully and the chair folds flat into a single sleeping surface for a child’s sleepover, a short guest stay or an afternoon nap. Because it has no arms, two or three Scott chairs can sit side by side as a modular sofa, then be split up again when you rearrange the room.
Scott is made by Kyoto, the British furniture supplier voted Best Sofa Bed Supplier in the Furniture News Readers’ Choice awards 2026, as part of its Scott modular click clack range with the matching Scott ottoman. Each piece is sold separately, so you can build the arrangement that fits your space.
How the click clack mechanism works
The back panel works on a simple ratchet. Lift it until you hear the click, then lower it to the position you want: upright for sitting, part-reclined for lounging, or fully flat for sleeping. There are no motors and nothing to plug in. When it is laid flat, the Scott chair gives a sleeping area of 95cm wide by 115cm long, ideal for a child, or for an adult when paired with the matching ottoman to support the feet.
Design and comfort
The seat is a generous 95cm wide and 62cm deep, so there is room to sit cross-legged or curl up, and at 47cm high it is a comfortable height to get in and out of. The padded back and thick seat are upholstered all over in Eryx chenille, a soft fabric with a fine woven texture, and the chair stands on four tapered wooden legs in a walnut finish that lift it clear of the floor.
Two chenille colours
- Eryx Navy Chenille: a deep, inky blue that looks smart against white, grey or mustard and hides everyday wear well.
- Eryx Olive Chenille: a soft, muted green that sits well with oak floors, cream walls and natural textures.

Scott click clack chair FAQs
Can you sleep on the Scott chair?
Yes. The back folds down flat to give a sleeping area of 95cm x 115cm. For an adult, use it with the Scott ottoman to support the legs.
Does it have arms?
No. It is deliberately armless so that several Scott chairs can be placed side by side as a modular sofa.
Is the mechanism electric?
No. It is a manual click clack mechanism: lift the back until it clicks, then lower it to recline or lie flat.
How much room does it need?
Upright it is 95cm wide and 100cm deep. Leave extra space behind the chair so the back can fold flat.
