Description
In short: the Lux is a Kyoto click clack sofa bed in soft tufted chenille on tapered walnut-finish legs. It seats two to three as a sofa, reclines halfway for lounging, and clicks flat into a 121 x 183.5cm bed in a few seconds, with no frame to pull out and no mattress to unfold. Choose Denim Blue, Terracotta or Washed Olive. Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales, and you can spread the cost with Klarna.
A click clack sofa bed for small living rooms and spare rooms
A click clack sofa bed turns the seat and back into the bed. You lift the front of the seat until you hear the click, then lower the back down until it lies flat. Because there is nothing folded away inside, the Lux stays slim, sits close to the wall and converts in the space it already takes up plus the depth of the opened bed. That makes it a practical choice for a studio flat, a box room that doubles as an office, a teenager’s room or a lounge that becomes a guest room at Christmas.
The updated Lux has deep button-style tufting across the seat and back, a gently curved backrest and four tapered legs in a warm walnut tone, with a central support leg underneath. The chenille is soft to the touch with a slight sheen, so the colour shifts a little with the light.
Three positions: sit, lounge or sleep
- Upright for everyday seating.
- Reclined halfway, for reading or watching a film with your feet up.
- Flat as a bed: a sleeping area of 121cm wide by 183.5cm long.
At 121cm wide the bed is close to a UK small double (120cm), so two adults can share it for a night or two, or one person has plenty of room. The 183.5cm length is shorter than a standard 190cm mattress, so very tall guests may prefer the Cloud click clack sofa bed (141 x 187cm) or one of our sofa beds with a separate mattress.

Choosing a colour
Denim Blue is a muted, greyed blue that works with white walls, light oak floors and brass or black accents. Terracotta is a warm burnt orange that gives a neutral room a focal point and suits rattan, cream and natural wood. Washed Olive is a soft sage green that sits well with plants, linen and pale timber. All three hide everyday marks better than a pale cream.
Who the Lux suits, and who it doesn’t
The Lux is made for rooms that do two jobs: a lounge that hosts guests, a home office with an occasional overnight visitor, or a student or teenager who wants a sofa by day. If someone will sleep on a sofa bed every night, a model with a sprung mattress is the better buy, for example the Jay-Be Elegance 2 seater with a Deep e-Sprung mattress. Lux click clack sofa bed: common questions
How big is the Lux when it is opened into a bed?
The sleeping area is 121cm wide and 183.5cm long. As a sofa it is 93cm high and 100cm deep; allow around 190cm of wall for the width.
Can two adults sleep on the Lux?
Yes, for short stays. At 121cm wide it is about the width of a UK small double. For regular sleeping for two, choose a sofa bed with a full-size mattress.
How do I turn the Lux into a bed?
Lift the front of the seat until it clicks, then lower the backrest until it lies flat. Lift and click again to bring it back to a sofa. Leave a little space behind it so the back can move.
What is the difference between this Lux and the earlier Lux?
This is the updated model: it has walnut-finish tapered legs instead of black metal legs, deeper tufting and the same three chenille colours. The earlier version is no longer available.
Does it need assembling?
Yes, some light self-assembly. Kyoto supplies the Lux in one box, and the instructions are below so you can read them before you order.
