Description
Turn bedtime into a call-out with this bright red fire engine toddler bed. The whole frame is shaped like a friendly fire truck: a blue cab window and flashing light at the head end, a yellow hose reel, ladder graphics along the side, big grey wheels and a smiling face on the front panel. A chunky steering wheel sits up front for pretend rescues, so the bed earns its place at playtime as well as at night.
Shaped side panels run along most of the sleeping area, giving a snug, enclosed feel that many toddlers find reassuring in their first bed out of the cot. An open section on one side keeps the way in and out easy for small legs, and the slatted base sits low to the floor, so climbing in is simple and any tumble is a short one.
Why families choose it
- A first bed they will want to sleep in. Children who love fire engines, emergency vehicles and role play are far keener to settle down in a bed that looks like their favourite toy.
- Low and secure. Raised panels around the mattress with a low step-in opening suit the move from cot to bed.
- Uses a standard toddler mattress. It takes a 140 x 70 cm junior or cot bed mattress, so a good cot bed mattress can often move across with your child.
- Statement piece for a themed room. Pair it with a road-map rug and red accessories and the bedroom almost decorates itself.
- A memorable Christmas or birthday present for a little one who shouts “nee-naw” at every passing fire engine.
Choosing a mattress
The bed is sold without a mattress. We show a selection of toddler mattresses on this page, from a simple foam-free sprung option to anti-allergy and waterproof versions. Pick one that fits the base snugly, with no gap of more than a couple of fingers’ width around the edge, and that is no deeper than about 12 cm so the side panels keep doing their job.

Assembly and care
The bed arrives flat packed with the fittings and step-by-step instructions. Two adults make assembly quicker, and it is easiest to build it in the room where it will stay. Check and re-tighten the fittings after the first few weeks, then every few months. Wipe the printed panels with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid bleach, solvents and scouring pads, which can wear the graphics. Keep the bed a little way from radiators.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We are unable to deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. The bed arrives flat packed, and we will contact you to confirm your delivery window before it leaves the warehouse. If it is planned as a Christmas present, ordering early leaves time to build it before the big day.
