Description
Gramercy Velvet Corner Sofa in Steel
The Gramercy is a corner sofa for people who want a living room to feel a little more dressed. It is upholstered in a steel-grey velvet with a soft sheen that shifts as the light moves around the room, so the colour reads as silver by the window and deeper charcoal in the evening. The shape is bold rather than fussy: a strong, squared outline, block-stitched seat cushions and generous back cushions that you sink back into rather than perch against.
Why the fabric matters
The Aluxo Gramercy is covered in what the maker calls a mermaid velvet. It has a short, dense pile that catches light at different angles, which is what gives the sofa its quiet shimmer. On a corner group this is useful: a large run of flat grey fabric can look heavy, while a fabric with movement in it keeps a big piece from dominating the room. Steel is a cool, mid-tone grey that sits well with white or pale grey walls, brushed metal, black accents and warm oak floors alike.
Block-stitched seats, deep backs
The seat cushions are stitched into blocks. That detail is partly about looks, giving the seat a tailored, upholstered finish, and partly practical, because stitching helps the filling stay where it should and keeps the seat looking neat with daily use. Behind them sit two rows of full, plump back and scatter cushions, so the Gramercy works as well for a long film as it does for sitting up with a coffee.
Built on a solid base
Underneath, the Gramercy has a wooden frame and foam-filled seating on short dark wooden feet. Foam gives a supportive, even sit that recovers its shape well, which matters on a corner sofa where the same seat tends to get used most often.
Which Gramercy is available now
The range was designed as a corner sofa, a 3 seater and a 2 seater, all in steel velvet. The corner sofa is available to order now. The 3 seater and 2 seater are temporarily unavailable from the maker, and we show them as out of stock rather than take an order we cannot deliver.

Measure before you order
At just over three metres wide, the Gramercy corner needs a wall of at least 310 cm and around 190 cm along the return for the chaise. Please check the route in as well as the space it will stand in: measure the narrowest doorway, any hallway turn and the stairs if the sofa is going upstairs. If you send us those figures we are happy to check them for you.
Delivery
Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We are unable to deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. We will contact you to arrange a delivery day once your order is ready to dispatch.
Gramercy corner sofa: questions and answers
How big is the Gramercy corner sofa?
305 cm wide, 186 cm deep at the chaise end, 104 cm deep along the back and 67 cm high, with a 46 cm seat height.
What colour is the Gramercy?
Steel, a cool mid-grey velvet with a soft sheen. It is the only colour the Gramercy is currently made in.
Is velvet practical for everyday use?
Yes, with sensible care. Vacuum with a soft brush attachment, blot spills straight away rather than rubbing, and brush the pile in one direction to refresh it. Pile marks are normal with velvet and brush out.
Can I buy the 3 seater or 2 seater?
Not at the moment. The maker has paused both, so we show them as out of stock. The corner sofa is available now.
Do you deliver to Scotland?
No. We deliver free to mainland England and Wales, including Anglesey, but not to Scotland, Northern Ireland or the islands listed above.
