Description
The Home Nook 4 Door Hinged Wardrobe 178cm is the largest and most versatile hinged wardrobe in the Home Nook range. It is 177.5cm wide, 42cm deep and 210.5cm high and behind four doors it combines a full-length hanging bay of about 168cm, a two-tier hanging bay and a shelf column at each end. That mix covers long dresses and coats, shirts and trousers, and folded clothes, all in one wardrobe that stands only 42cm from the wall.
Design
Four plain white doors with paired bar handles give a clean, built-in look along a wall. Because it is about 15cm to 18cm shallower than a typical four-door wardrobe, it suits main bedrooms where the bed sits close to the wardrobe wall, and loft rooms where floor space near the eaves is precious. Each door is narrow, roughly 44cm, so they need much less swing room than the wide doors on a two-door wardrobe.
Finish and build
The cabinet and doors are white laminated chipboard, a wipe-clean surface that suits white, grey or pale painted walls and makes a small room feel lighter. Each door has a slim vertical bar handle in a light plastic finish, set in pairs where two doors meet, and the plinth sits just above the floor so the front reads as one clean block. Every shelf is rated for about 15kg and every rail for about 6kg of clothing, which is plenty for everyday shirts and dresses but worth keeping in mind for heavy winter coats. Wall-fixing fittings come in the box and must be used: a 210cm-high cabinet that is only 42cm deep needs to be fixed back to the wall.
Storage inside
Arte-N’s dimension drawing shows four sections, left to right. A 27cm shelf column with five compartments of about 37cm, 41cm, 39cm, 40cm and 40cm. A 58cm bay with a top shelf (about 35cm space above it) and a full-length hanging drop of about 168cm below, long enough for maxi dresses, long coats and suit carriers. A second 58cm bay with an upper hanging tier of about 86cm and a lower tier of about 116cm. And a second 27cm shelf column on the right. The drawing shows rail positions in all three hanging spaces; Arte-N’s specification lists two hanging rails, so plan on two supplied. Inside depth is about 38cm, so very bulky coats on wide hangers may touch the doors.
Size and fit
Overall it measures W177.5cm x D42cm x H210.5cm and weighs about 112.6kg, delivered in several flat-pack boxes. Leave about 45cm clear in front for the doors. Allow a ceiling of at least 2.2m for assembly, because it is built lying down and stood up. With this width, fix it to the wall at more than one point using the fittings supplied.
Looking after it
Wipe the doors and shelves with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and solvent cleaners on the laminate. Check the hinge screws a few weeks after assembly, once the cabinet has settled, and adjust the hinges if a door starts to sit proud of its neighbour.
