Description

The Winn II Mirrored Sliding Wardrobe 170cm takes the Winn II layout of long hanging, short hanging and three drawers and adds a full-height mirror on the right-hand door. It is 170.3cm wide, 61.2cm deep and 200.5cm high, which suits a double bedroom wall, and because the doors slide past each other you only need room to stand in front of it, not room for a door to swing open. The mirror saves you buying a separate dressing mirror and bounces daylight back into the room, which makes a small bedroom feel larger.

Design

The left door is cut away at the bottom so a stack of three drawers sits in the front line of the wardrobe. The drawers stay reachable whichever way the doors are slid, so you can open a drawer without moving the mirror door out of the way. Two fine shadow lines run across both doors at the same height, which ties the mirror and the plain door together and stops the front looking like two unrelated panels. Slim metal pull handles finish the drawers.

Finishes

White is matt white all over with the mirror on the right; it is the brightest option for a north-facing or compact room. White / Oak Artisan pairs a white door with a knotty, golden Artisan oak-effect carcass and Artisan oak drawer fronts, so the drawers stand out as a warm block of wood against the white. Oak Sonoma is a light, slightly grey Sonoma oak effect all over, a classic look that sits well with pine, oak or painted bedroom furniture. Oak Artisan / Dark Concrete Grey has an Artisan oak door, drawer fronts and outer panels with a dark concrete-grey interior that shows when the doors are open, a good fit for a loft or industrial-style room. Every finish is a laminated chipboard surface that resists scuffs and wipes clean.

Storage inside

Inside are two bays of about 83cm each. The right-hand bay, behind the mirror door, is full-length hanging: a shelf at the top with about 35cm of space above it for bags, boxes or spare bedding, then a rail with roughly 155cm of hanging height for dresses, long coats and trousers hung at full length. The left-hand bay has a top shelf, a second rail with about 72cm of hanging height for shirts, blouses and jackets, then a shelf over the drawer section. The three drawers run on ball-bearing runners; each has an internal space of about 53.8cm by 33.8cm and 12.6cm deep, which fits folded T-shirts, underwear and socks.

Size and fit

Arte-N quote W170.3cm x D61.2cm x H200.5cm (their outline drawing rounds the height to 205cm, so allow for that against a sloping ceiling or a low picture rail). The 61cm depth is a full wardrobe depth, so standard hangers hang square without catching the doors. The cabinet is built lying on its back and then stood up, so you need a ceiling of at least 2.2m in the room where it is assembled. It stands on plastic feet and weighs about 124kg once built.

Looking after it

Clean the mirror with a glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth rather than straight onto the door, so liquid does not run into the frame. Wipe the laminated surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away, keep the bottom door track free of dust so the doors glide, and do not overload the drawers.
