Description
The Home Nook Slim Sliding Door Wardrobe 200cm runs two metres of storage along a wall while standing only 39.1cm deep. It is 200.1cm wide and 210cm high, with two large sliding doors over two hanging bays and two shelf columns, so a couple can share it in a bedroom that is too narrow for a standard 60cm-deep wardrobe. It also makes a strong hallway or utility storage wall.
Design
The layout is symmetrical: shelving at each end and hanging in the middle. Each hanging bay uses a rail fixed front to back under a shelf, so hangers face the doors and the cabinet can stay shallow. Two wide sliding doors cover the front and slide past each other, so you can open either half without needing floor space in front of the wardrobe. Fine lines cross the doors at about two-thirds height and slim metal handle strips run down the edges. Note that Arte-N file this model under hinged-door wardrobes in their catalogue, but the doors are sliding, as the photographs show.
Finishes
Each size comes in three finishes. White is the brightest and the easiest to place: it disappears against white or pale grey walls and makes a small room feel wider. Sand is a warm, soft beige that sits well with oak floors, linen and cream bedding, and it hides fingerprints better than white. Black Matt turns the wardrobe into a feature, which works in a monochrome bedroom, a dark hallway or next to black metal furniture. All three have slim metal handle strips on the door edges and a light interior.
Storage inside
Arte-N’s drawing shows about 197cm of internal width. At each end is a shelf column about 43cm wide, divided into compartments of about 31cm high with a taller one of about 38cm at the bottom, which suits folded clothes, shoes, bags and boxes. In the centre are two hanging bays about 54cm wide, each with a top compartment of about 37cm and a rail below it with about 163cm of drop for full-length dresses, coats and trousers. Arte-N list eight shelves and two hanging rails in total. Shelves are rated for about 15kg each and each rail for about 6kg, so spread heavier coats across both rails.
Size and fit
It measures W200.1cm x D39.1cm x H210cm and weighs about 115kg. The cabinet is built lying down and then raised, so allow a ceiling of at least 2.2m where it is assembled, and check the height under any beam or sloping ceiling. Glide feet protect the floor and wall-fixing fittings are included.
Looking after it
Wipe the doors and shelves with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners on the laminate. Keep the floor guide free of fluff and grit so the doors run smoothly, and do not overload the shelves beyond about 15kg each.
