Description
The Home Nook 2 Door Hinged Wardrobe 89cm is a small, tidy white wardrobe for rooms where floor space is tight. It is 88.9cm wide, 42cm deep and 210.5cm high, so it takes up roughly the footprint of a chest of drawers while giving you full-height storage. Behind two hinged doors it splits into a 57cm hanging bay and a 27cm column of shelf compartments, which keeps shirts and dresses apart from folded T-shirts, underwear and accessories.
Design
Most wardrobes are 55cm to 60cm deep. The Home Nook range is built at 42cm, which saves around 15cm of floor in front of the wardrobe: often the difference between a wardrobe fitting beside a single bed or not. The two doors are plain, flat white panels with slim bar handles placed next to each other in the middle, so the front stays calm and fits with almost any bedroom style. It works in a box room, a child’s bedroom, a student let, a guest room or a landing alcove.
Finish and build
The cabinet and doors are white laminated chipboard, a wipe-clean surface that suits white, grey or pale painted walls and makes a small room feel lighter. Each door has a slim vertical bar handle in a light plastic finish, set in pairs where two doors meet, and the plinth sits just above the floor so the front reads as one clean block. Every shelf is rated for about 15kg and every rail for about 6kg of clothing, which is plenty for everyday shirts and dresses but worth keeping in mind for heavy winter coats. Wall-fixing fittings come in the box and must be used: a 210cm-high cabinet that is only 42cm deep needs to be fixed back to the wall.
Storage inside
Arte-N’s dimension drawing shows the layout clearly. The left bay is about 57cm wide and is split by a fixed shelf into an upper hanging space of about 86cm and a lower hanging space of about 116cm, so shirts, blouses and folded trousers can hang in two tiers. The drawing shows a rail position in both tiers; Arte-N’s specification lists one hanging rail for this size, so plan on one rail supplied. The right column is about 27cm wide with five compartments of about 37cm, 41cm, 39cm, 40cm and 40cm high, ideal for jumpers, bedding, shoes and baskets. Inside depth is about 38cm. That is shallower than a standard wardrobe, so bulky coats on wide hangers may brush the doors; everyday shirts, dresses and children’s clothes hang comfortably.
Size and fit
Overall it measures W88.9cm x D42cm x H210.5cm and weighs about 60.5kg. Each door is roughly 44cm wide, so you need about 45cm of clear space in front for the doors to swing fully open. The wardrobe is built lying down and then stood up, so allow a ceiling of at least 2.2m where it is assembled. If the room has a sloping ceiling, measure the wall height where the back of the wardrobe will stand.
Looking after it
Wipe the doors and shelves with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and solvent cleaners on the laminate. Check the hinge screws a few weeks after assembly, once the cabinet has settled, and adjust the hinges if a door starts to sit proud of its neighbour.
How it compares
Need more hanging room? The Home Nook 120cm hinged wardrobe keeps the same height and depth but widens the shelf column to 58cm. The 133cm three-door and 178cm four-door versions add shelving on both sides. If hinged doors would hit a bed or radiator, the Home Nook Slim Sliding Door Wardrobe 100cm and 120cm are just 39cm deep with sliding doors.

Does it need fixing to the wall?
Yes. Wall-fixing fittings are included and should always be used on a tall, shallow wardrobe like this.
