The Home Nook Slim Sliding Door Wardrobe 120cm gives you hanging space and shelving in a cabinet that is only 39.1cm deep. At 120.1cm wide and about 210cm high, with two sliding doors, it suits a small double bedroom, a box room, a hallway or a dressing area where a 60cm-deep wardrobe would block the walkway.
Design
The trick is the rail. A normal wardrobe hangs clothes side-on along a rail that runs left to right, which needs about 55cm of depth. In the Home Nook 120cm the rail is fixed front to back under a shelf, so hangers face the doors and the cabinet can be far shallower. The sliding doors need no clearance in front, each door carries a fine line across it at about two-thirds height, and slim metal handle strips run down the edges. The result is a plain, modern front that does not dominate a small room.
Finishes
Each size comes in three finishes. White is the brightest and the easiest to place: it disappears against white or pale grey walls and makes a small room feel wider. Sand is a warm, soft beige that sits well with oak floors, linen and cream bedding, and it hides fingerprints better than white. Black Matt turns the wardrobe into a feature, which works in a monochrome bedroom, a dark hallway or next to black metal furniture. All three have slim metal handle strips on the door edges and a light interior.
Storage inside
Arte-N’s drawing shows an internal width of about 117cm, split into two bays of about 58cm. The left bay is a column of six compartments, five of about 31cm high and one of about 38cm at the bottom, for folded shirts, knitwear, jeans, bags and shoes. The right bay has a top compartment of about 37cm for boxes or spare bedding, then a shelf with the hanging rail beneath it and about 163cm of clear drop, enough for coats, long dresses and trousers hung full length. Shelves are rated for about 15kg each and the rail for about 6kg, so it is best for everyday shirts, dresses and jackets rather than a row of heavy winter coats.
Size and fit
Arte-N list it as W120.1cm x D39.1cm x H210cm; their drawing marks the height as 210.5cm, so allow 211cm under a sloping ceiling or shelf. It weighs about 71kg. The cabinet is assembled lying down and then raised, so you need a ceiling of at least 2.2m where it is built. Glide feet protect the floor and wall-fixing fittings are included.
Looking after it
Wipe the doors and shelves with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners on the laminate. Keep the floor guide free of fluff and grit so the doors run smoothly, and do not overload the shelves beyond about 15kg each.
