The Home Nook Slim Sliding Door Wardrobe 100cm is a tall storage cupboard built for the places a normal wardrobe will not go. It is 100.1cm wide, only 39.1cm deep and 190.5cm high, and behind its two sliding doors it is fitted out entirely with shelves. That makes it a tidy home for folded clothes, jumpers, bedding, towels, shoes and storage boxes in a box room, a landing, a hallway or alongside a bigger wardrobe.

Design

Most wardrobes are 55cm to 60cm deep because hangers need that much room. The Home Nook 100cm drops the hanging rail and keeps the depth to 39cm, so it takes about a third less floor space than a standard wardrobe of the same width. The sliding doors need no swing space, which matters in a narrow room or a corridor where hinged doors would hit the bed, a radiator or a passing person. Each door is split by a fine horizontal line at about two-thirds height, and slim metal handle strips run down the door edges, so the front looks clean and modern rather than plain.

Finishes

Each size comes in three finishes. White is the brightest and the easiest to place: it disappears against white or pale grey walls and makes a small room feel wider. Sand is a warm, soft beige that sits well with oak floors, linen and cream bedding, and it hides fingerprints better than white. Black Matt turns the wardrobe into a feature, which works in a monochrome bedroom, a dark hallway or next to black metal furniture. All three have slim metal handle strips on the door edges and a light interior.

Storage inside

Arte-N’s dimension drawing shows an internal width of about 97cm, split into two bays of about 48cm. The left bay is divided into five compartments, four of about 35cm high and a slightly taller one of about 37cm at the bottom, which suits stacks of T-shirts, knitwear and jeans. The right bay has two compartments of about 35cm at the top and a tall open space of about 109cm below, useful for a laundry basket, boots, a vacuum cleaner, folded duvets or tall boxes. The shelves are roughly 30cm deep inside and are rated for about 15kg each. There is no hanging rail in this size; if you need hanging space, look at the 120cm, 150cm or 200cm Home Nook.

Size and fit

It measures W100.1cm x D39.1cm x H190.5cm and weighs about 72kg. Because it stands well under two metres, it fits under most sloping ceilings and below a high window sill line on a landing. The cabinet is built lying down and then stood up, so allow a ceiling of at least 2.0m where it is assembled. Glide feet protect the floor, and some edges are finished in hard-wearing ABS edging.

Looking after it

Wipe the doors and shelves with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners on the laminate. Keep the floor guide free of fluff and grit so the doors run smoothly, and do not overload the shelves beyond about 15kg each.

How it compares

The Home Nook Slim Sliding Door Wardrobe 120cm keeps the same 39cm depth but adds a hanging bay with a front-to-back rail and stands 210cm high. It arrives flat-packed for self-assembly, so check the boxes will fit through your front door and up the stairs, and allow two adults for the build. Wall-fixing fittings are included and should be used: a 39cm-deep cabinet of this height must be fixed to the wall.
