Description
The Apley States is a triple sleeper: a 3ft single bunk above a 4ft 6 double below, with two matching drawers built into the base.
That configuration solves a problem an ordinary bunk cannot. A standard bunk sleeps two children in single beds; a triple sleeper sleeps three, or sleeps two comfortably with room for a parent to lie down at bedtime, or takes a couple downstairs and a child above in a holiday let. In the footprint of one double bed.
Before you order
Ceiling height is the first measurement. The frame stands 160cm tall and there is 87cm of clearance between the bunks, so the child above needs headroom to sit up and you need room to make the bed. Sloping ceilings need care — measure where the bed will actually stand, not in the middle of the room.
The 20cm maximum mattress depth on the top bunk matters and is not a suggestion: a deeper mattress raises the sleeper above the guard rail. Mattresses are not included, and the frame does not separate into individual beds, so it is a long-term choice for the room rather than something to reconfigure later. Check the stairs and the turn at the top before ordering; this is a large flat-pack.

Delivery is free to mainland England and mainland Wales, including Anglesey. We do not deliver to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isles of Scilly. Please allow around two to three weeks from order to delivery. Our delivery partner contacts you to agree a day, and it arrives with a two-person crew. It comes flat-packed, so check the stairs and the turn at the top before ordering.

How many people does the States triple sleeper sleep?
Up to three: one on the 3ft single top bunk and two on the 4ft 6 double below. Weight limits are 70kg on the top bunk and 100kg on the lower bunk, so the double suits two children or one adult.
Are mattresses included?
No. You need a 90 x 190cm single for the top bunk and a 135 x 190cm double for the bottom. The top mattress must be no deeper than 20cm so the guard rail stays high enough.
How much ceiling height do I need?
The frame is 160cm tall with 87cm between the bunks. Allow enough room above the top bunk for a child to sit up, and be careful under sloping ceilings: measure where the bed will actually stand.
Can the States be split into two separate beds?
No. It is a fixed triple sleeper and does not separate, so it is best chosen as a long-term bed for the room.
