The Oasis is a full-size pocket sprung mattress compressed, rolled and boxed so it can be carried upstairs by one person. Cut the wrapping and it expands to its full 25cm depth within a few hours — no wrestling a rigid mattress round a landing, no specialist delivery.

2,000 pockets, working independently

Each of the 2,000 springs sits in its own fabric pocket and compresses on its own. Weight is supported where it is applied rather than across the whole surface, so the mattress follows the shoulders and hips instead of pushing back against them. For couples it means one person turning over is far less likely to disturb the other.

Memory foam pillow top

A memory foam layer is quilted into the top panel. It softens the initial contact with the sprung base and spreads pressure across the shoulders, hips and lower back — the three places most people feel a firm mattress first.

Medium firm — who it suits

The Oasis is rated medium firm. That is the middle of the range and the most widely suitable: supportive enough for back and front sleepers, with enough give at the shoulder for side sleepers. If you prefer to feel held rather than cushioned, this is the right end of the scale.

Tencel cover

The cover is knitted Tencel, a fibre made from wood pulp. It moves moisture away from the surface more readily than standard polyester, which keeps the sleeping surface drier through the night.

Before it arrives

Allow the mattress to expand for at least 4 hours before sleeping on it, and up to 48 hours to reach full height. A faint smell when first unwrapped is normal for a boxed mattress and disperses within a day or two in a ventilated room.
