Where it works

A 55cm bedside table is a useful width — wide enough for a lamp, a book and a phone without crowding, and narrow enough to fit most gaps between a bed and a wall. Measure that gap before ordering, and check your mattress height: the table is easiest to use when its top sits level with or just below the top of the mattress. If it is going against a wall with a radiator, leave a gap behind it so heat is not trapped.
