Description
The Blomvik I 2 Door Hinged Wardrobe 100cm is a clean, plain-fronted wardrobe for a single bedroom, a guest room or one side of a shared room. Close the doors and you see one calm sheet of matt colour, broken only by the angled black handles. It stands 100cm wide and 202cm tall, and on this version all two doors are plain, solid panels. Every door hangs on a soft-close hinge, and the carcass comes in White Matt, Black Matt, Cashmere or Warm Walnut.
What sets Blomvik apart from a standard flat-door wardrobe is the line where the doors meet. Instead of a straight vertical gap, each pair of doors meets on a stepped, angled joint, and the slim black metal handle is set along that step. It gives the front a sculpted, architectural look in the room-set photos, and it means the handles sit at a natural hand height. The interior has one bay with a fixed shelf compartment at the top and a single hanging rail below it.
Who it suits
Choose Blomvik I if you want storage that reads as furniture rather than glass. Plain matt doors suit a bedroom that already has a dressing-table mirror or a mirror on another wall, and they are the safer choice in a child’s or teenager’s room. Choosing a colour
White Matt is the brightest option and almost disappears against a pale wall, which helps in a small room. Black Matt is the boldest: against white walls it becomes a feature, and the black handles blend into it for a near-handleless look. Cashmere is a soft grey-beige that sits well with cream bedding, oak floors and stone or taupe paint. Warm Walnut is a deep brown wood effect for a classic or mid-century scheme and costs a little more than the other three. Storage inside
Behind the doors you will find one bay with a fixed shelf compartment at the top and a single hanging rail below it. The top compartment takes folded jumpers, bags or spare bedding, the rail takes shirts, dresses and coats, and the base is left clear for shoes, a suitcase or storage boxes. In total: 1 shelf and 1 hanging rail. The shelves are fixed in place, and Arte-N sell additional shelves separately if you want to turn some of the hanging space into folded storage.
Measuring up
The wardrobe is 100cm wide, 52cm deep and 202cm high. Measure the wall including skirting boards and any radiator, and allow a few centimetres spare at each end. Hinged doors need clear floor in front of them, so leave roughly 55cm free for the doors to swing. Like most tall wardrobes it is built lying down and then stood upright: its side diagonal is about 209cm, so the ceiling needs to be at least 2.1m. Arte-N give the weight as about 105kg, so plan for two adults to assemble it and secure it to the wall with fixings suited to your wall type.
Build and care
The carcass is 16mm laminated board with PVC-finished edges, an HDF back panel and eccentric (cam) connectors, so it goes together with standard tools and stays rigid once tightened. Wipe the matt laminate with a slightly damp cloth and dry it; avoid bleach, solvents and scouring pads. A few weeks after assembly, check the hinges: a small turn of the adjustment screws brings any door back into line so the angled joints stay neat.
