Description

The Alicante II 2 Door Mirrored Hinged Wardrobe 100cm is the Alicante range with a mirror built in. It has two flat, full-height hinged doors, one mirrored door among them, on a cabinet 100cm wide and 202cm tall, made for a box room, a guest room or a teenager’s bedroom. It is the obvious choice for a smaller room where there is no space for a separate cheval or wall mirror: the mirror is built into the wardrobe you needed anyway.

It works as one person’s main wardrobe in a compact room, or as a second wardrobe in a main bedroom where the mirror gives a getting-ready spot by the window. Every door closes on a soft-close hinge, and long, slim black aluminium bar handles run down the door edges. Choose from Oak Artisan, White Matt, Black Matt, Cashmere or Warm Walnut.

The mirror

The mirror runs almost the full height of the right-hand door, so it shows you head to toe rather than from the waist up. A full-length mirror on a wardrobe door also does a second job in a bedroom: it bounces light from the window back into the room, which makes a north-facing or narrow bedroom feel noticeably brighter. Because the mirror is part of the door, there is nothing to hang on the wall, no extra furniture to find room for and no mirror to knock over. Finishes and style

The Alicante II front is deliberately plain: no cornice, no plinth trim and no decorative panels, just one flat door in the finish you choose and the mirror glass. White Matt keeps a small room light and pairs naturally with the mirror. Black Matt makes the mirror stand out as a feature and suits a hotel-style room with brass or gold accents. Oak Artisan has visible knots and grain for a warmer, Scandi feel. Cashmere is a soft grey-beige that sits well with cream bedding and pale oak floors. Warm Walnut is a deep mid-brown wood effect for a classic or mid-century scheme, and costs a little more than the other four. All five are low-sheen laminates, so they hide fingerprints far better than gloss.

Storage inside

Inside there is one wide bay about 97cm across. At the top of each bay is a shelf compartment about 34cm high, deep enough for stacked jumpers, handbags or a spare duvet, and below it a hanging rail with about 161cm of drop. That clears full-length coats and most maxi dresses, so long items do not crease on the base. In total there is about 97cm of rail. Expect to hang roughly 40 to 50 shirts, jackets or dresses, and keep shoes or a storage box on the base below the hems. Arte-N sell additional shelves separately if you want to divide a bay further.

Measuring up

The wardrobe is 100cm wide, 52cm deep and 202cm high. Arte-N’s drawing shows a 50cm-deep cabinet; the doors and handles add the last 2cm. That depth takes an adult coat hanger square-on without the clothes rubbing the doors. Each door is about 50cm wide, so keep around 55cm of clear floor in front of the wardrobe for the doors to open fully, and remember the mirror is most useful with a metre or so of standing room in front of it. The wardrobe is built lying down and then stood up, and the diagonal of the side is about 208cm, so the ceiling needs to be at least 2.1m. It is supplied as a single 100cm cabinet and weighs about 68kg once assembled, so the build is a job for two adults. We recommend fixing it to the wall with fixings suited to your wall type.

Care

Wipe the laminate with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away; avoid scouring pads, bleach and solvent cleaners on the matt finish. Clean the mirror with a glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth rather than onto the glass, so no liquid runs into the door edge. A few weeks after assembly, check the hinges: each soft-close hinge has small adjustment screws, and a quarter turn brings a door back into line if it has settled.

Alicante II comes in five widths with the same 202cm height, finishes and soft-close doors: the 3 door 150cm, 4 door 200cm, 5 door 250cm, 6 door 300cm. Measure the wall including skirting boards and any radiator, and leave about 5cm spare at each end.

The Alicante II 100cm is made to order by Arte-N and the current lead time is 4 to 6 weeks; we confirm a delivery date by email or phone before it leaves the warehouse. It arrives flat-packed in several boxes for self-assembly, so check the boxes will fit through your front door and up the stairs, and allow two adults for the build.
