Description

The Winn II Sliding Door Wardrobe 170cm puts long hanging, short hanging, shelves and three drawers behind two space-saving sliding doors. It is 170.3cm wide and 200.5cm high, a good size for a double bedroom wall, and because the doors slide rather than swing you only need room to stand in front of it, not room for a door to open. It comes in five finishes, from plain white to a two-tone oak and concrete look.

Design

The Winn II front is deliberately irregular: the left door is cut away at the bottom so a stack of three drawers sits in the front line of the wardrobe, framed by the door above and beside it. The drawers stay in view whichever way the doors are slid, and on the two-tone finishes the drawer fronts are the contrasting colour, which gives the piece its character. Slim metal pull handles and two shadow lines across each door keep the rest of the front quiet.

Finishes

White is a clean matt white all over. It brightens a small or north-facing room and sits easily with any bed. Oak Artisan / Concrete Grey pairs a knotty, golden Artisan oak effect with a dark concrete-grey door and drawer fronts, trimmed in black. It is the most striking option and suits an industrial or loft-style bedroom. Oak Wild / Sand sets warm Wild oak-effect drawer fronts against a soft sand (warm beige) carcass and doors, for a calm Scandi look. Sand is the same warm beige all over with dark accents on the handles, a softer alternative to white that hides marks well. Sand / Sand Gloss keeps the sand carcass but gives the doors and drawer fronts a high-gloss sand finish that bounces light around the room. It costs a little more because of the gloss fronts. Every finish is a laminated chipboard, so it resists scuffs and wipes clean.

Storage inside

Inside are two bays of roughly 83cm each. The right-hand bay is full-length hanging: a shelf at the top with about 37cm of space above it for bags or spare bedding, then a rail with about 155cm of hanging height, enough for dresses, long coats and trousers hung at full length. The left-hand bay has a top shelf, a second rail with around 72cm of hanging height for shirts and jackets, and a shelf over the drawer section. Below that the three drawers sit beside a narrow open column for shoes or folded jumpers. The drawers run on ball-bearing runners and are rated for 5kg each; the rails take 25kg and the shelves 15kg.

Size and fit

It measures 170.3cm wide, 61.2cm deep and 200.5cm high. The 61cm depth is a full wardrobe depth, so standard hangers hang square without catching the doors. The wardrobe is built lying on its back and then stood up, and the diagonal of the side panel is about 210cm, so you need a ceiling of at least 2.15m in the room where it is assembled. It stands on plastic feet and weighs about 120.5kg once built.

Looking after it

Wipe the laminated surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; use a microfibre cloth on the gloss fronts to avoid streaks. Keep the bottom door track free of fluff and dust so the doors run smoothly, and do not overload the drawers beyond their 5kg rating.

The Winn II 170cm sliding wardrobe is made to order by Arte-N and the current lead time is 4 to 6 weeks; we confirm a delivery date by email or phone before it leaves the warehouse. It arrives flat-packed in several boxes for self-assembly, so check the boxes will fit through your front door and up the stairs, and allow two adults for the build. It weighs about 120.5kg once assembled and must be fixed to the wall with the anti-tip fitting supplied.
