Description
The Winn II Sliding Door Wardrobe 270cm is the largest in the range: three sliding doors, six drawers and three hanging rails across almost 2.7 metres of wall. It is built for a main bedroom where two people share one run of storage and want plenty of drawer space as well as hanging, and it comes in White, Oak Artisan with Concrete Grey or Sand with Sand Gloss fronts.
Design
The front is symmetrical: the two outer doors are cut away at the bottom so a stack of three drawers sits at each end, in the front line of the wardrobe, with a full-height door in the middle. That gives the piece a balanced, built-in look, a little like a pair of chests either side of a central cupboard. On the two-tone finish the drawers and centre door are concrete grey against oak-effect outer doors; the sand gloss version has glossy fronts that lift a darker room.
Finishes
White is a clean matt white all over. It brightens a small or north-facing room and sits easily with any bed. Oak Artisan / Concrete Grey pairs a knotty, golden Artisan oak effect with a dark concrete-grey door and drawer fronts, trimmed in black. It is the most striking option and suits an industrial or loft-style bedroom. Sand / Sand Gloss keeps the sand carcass but gives the doors and drawer fronts a high-gloss sand finish that bounces light around the room. It costs a little more because of the gloss fronts. Every finish is a laminated chipboard, so it resists scuffs and wipes clean.
Storage inside
Behind the doors are three hanging rails and three shelves. The two outer bays each have a shelf and a rail above the drawer stack, for shirts, jackets and folded trousers, and the centre bay gives longer hanging with open floor space beneath, which Arte-N suggest for luggage or a separate internal chest. Each of the six drawers runs on ball-bearing runners and is rated at 5kg; each rail takes 25kg. With six drawers in total, many buyers find they no longer need a separate chest of drawers in the room.
Size and fit
It measures 269.7cm wide, 61cm deep and 200.5cm high. Measure the wall carefully, including skirting and any sockets, and leave a few centimetres at each end. It is built lying down and raised, and the side diagonal is about 210cm, so allow a ceiling of at least 2.15m. It stands on plastic feet and weighs about 178kg once built, so plan on two strong adults for assembly.
Looking after it
Wipe the laminated surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them; use a microfibre cloth on gloss fronts. Keep the floor track free of dust so the three doors run smoothly, and do not exceed the 5kg rating per drawer.
