Description
The Idea ID-10 Chest of Drawers is a wide, low chest with four deep drawers that holds the folded clothes a wardrobe cannot. At 100cm wide and 91cm high its top sits at a comfortable height for a lamp, a mirror or a television, so it can double as a dressing table or a TV stand in a bedroom. It comes in six finishes, three matt colours and three oak effects, so it will sit with most bedroom furniture you already own.
Design
The look is simple and squared-off: flat drawer fronts, a slim top and a plinth base that sits close to the floor so dust cannot gather underneath. The handles are slim bars, two to a drawer, which make the wide drawers easy to pull out evenly with both hands. It belongs to Arte-N’s Idea bedroom range, so matching pieces are available if you want to build a set.
Six finishes
The matt colours, Black Matt, Grey Matt and White Matt, suit a room where the walls and bedding carry the colour and you want the furniture to sit back. The oak effects carry more grain and warmth: Oak Artisan is a golden, knotty oak, Oak San Remo a lighter, even grain and Oak Shetland a pale, slightly grey oak. What fits in it
Each drawer runs almost the full 100cm width, which is roughly twice the space of a narrow chest. A typical layout is underwear and socks in the top drawer, T-shirts in the second, jumpers in the third and jeans or spare bedding in the deepest bottom drawer. At 42cm deep it fits along a wall without eating into the walkway beside the bed.
Size and fit
It measures W100cm x H91cm x D42cm. Leave about 45cm of clear floor in front so the drawers can open fully, and check skirting boards, which can push a chest away from the wall. It weighs about 50kg once assembled and is made from 16mm laminated board.
Looking after it
Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away rather than letting water sit on a joint or an edge. Avoid abrasive creams and solvent cleaners, which dull the surface. If a drawer starts to run heavily, check the chest is level on the floor before anything else; an uneven floor twists the frame slightly and is the usual cause.
