The Genua 5 Door Hinged Wardrobe is the widest piece in the Genua bedroom range: 255cm of storage behind five flush doors, with long vertical bar handles and a clean, handle-led look that suits a modern main bedroom. It is built for two people sharing one wardrobe, with a full hanging section at each end and a column of shelves in the middle, and it comes in four finishes: Bottle Green with a black frame, White Matt, Sand Beige or Oak Wild.

Design

The doors are plain and flat, so the long bar handles do the talking. They run most of the way down the door, which makes them easy to reach whether you are tall or short and gives the front a strong vertical line that makes a room feel taller. The frame surrounds the doors like a picture border, which is most striking on the Bottle Green version where green doors sit inside black. At 217cm high it fills a standard wall from floor almost to ceiling, so it looks fitted rather than freestanding.

Four finishes

Bottle Green pairs deep green doors with a black matt frame, a strong look against pale walls, natural linen and brass. White Matt is the quiet option that disappears into a white or grey scheme and keeps a small room bright. Sand Beige is a warm putty neutral that sits well with oak floors, cream bedding and soft caramel tones. Oak Wild is a knotty, mid-tone wood effect for a Scandi or rustic room. All four are low-sheen, so they do not show fingerprints the way gloss does.

Storage inside

Behind each pair of outer doors is a 97cm-wide hanging section: a rail with about 122cm of hanging height, enough for shirts, jackets and most dresses, and two shelves above it for jumpers, bags and spare bedding. The single centre door opens onto a 50cm-wide shelving column divided into stacked compartments, a good home for folded T-shirts, knitwear, jeans and shoes. In practice that means one hanging side each and a shared shelf column, which is why it works so well as a his-and-hers wardrobe.

Size and fit

It measures 255cm wide, 65cm deep and 217cm high. The 65cm depth takes a coat hanger without brushing the doors. Leave about 50cm of clear floor in front so the doors can swing open, and measure your wall including skirting boards, sockets and radiators. Because it is assembled lying on its back and then stood up, the room needs a ceiling height of roughly 2.3m (the diagonal of the side panel is about 226cm); in a room with a lower ceiling, ask us before ordering. It weighs about 216kg once built and is a two-person job.

Looking after it

The laminated board finish wipes clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth; dry it straight away and avoid abrasive pads, bleach or solvent cleaners, which can mark a matt surface. Do not overload a single shelf or the rail with very heavy items, spread the weight across the interior instead, and check the hinge screws a few weeks after assembly in case a door needs a small adjustment to sit level with its neighbour.

The Genua 5 Door Wardrobe is made to order by Arte-N and the current lead time is 4 to 6 weeks; we confirm a delivery date by email or phone before it leaves the warehouse. It arrives flat-packed in several boxes for self-assembly, so check the boxes will fit through your front door and up the stairs, and allow two adults for the build. It weighs about 216kg once assembled and must be fixed to the wall with the anti-tip fitting supplied.
