Description
The Dakota Mirrored Sliding Door Wardrobe 160cm has two full-height mirrored doors crossed by slim glazing bars, so the front reads like a window rather than a sheet of glass. The doors slide, which means no door swing: it can sit close to the end of a bed or in a narrow room where hinged doors would hit furniture.
Design
Each door is a single mirror divided into four panes by horizontal bars. Together the two doors reflect almost the whole room, which makes a small bedroom feel larger and lighter, and gives you a full-length mirror without using any more wall. This is a different design from the Dakota IX and XI wardrobes we also sell.
Two finishes
White Matt has a white frame and white glazing bars across the mirrors, a clean, bright look that suits a small or north-facing room. Black Matt has a black frame and black bars, a bolder, Crittall-style grid that suits grey, green or dark painted walls. Both have slim vertical bar handles on the door edges.
Storage inside
One side holds a full-height stack of shelves for folded clothes, bedding and boxes. The other side has a top shelf above a hanging rail with open space beneath for longer items, shoes or a laundry basket. Only one half is open at a time with sliding doors, so it helps to keep everyday clothes on the side you use most.
Size and fit
It is 160cm wide, 61cm deep and 215cm high. The 61cm depth gives hangers plenty of room. At 215cm it is taller than many wardrobes, so check your ceiling: the diagonal is about 224cm, and you need a ceiling of at least 2.25m to stand it up after assembling it on its back. Standard UK ceilings of about 2.4m are fine. The doors run on aluminium runners with bearing rollers for a smooth, quiet glide.
Looking after it
Dakota is made from laminated board, which is hard-wearing and wipe-clean: use a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it off. Spray glass cleaner onto a cloth, not straight onto the mirrors. Vacuum the bottom track every few months so grit does not build up under the rollers, and keep heavy items off the floor of the wardrobe where they could block the doors.
